Hi folks!

I am off to London this weekend for a skating session - but in order to be entitled to go to this free lesson I need to join up to the London speed skating team!

I can choose from 2 types of membership -

1) half membership - escaping the lycra

or

2) full membership - not escaping the lycra!

The lycra is shown here as sported by the guy in the front of the chain of skaters

Should it be done? I am leaning towards no - but I never like to be a "half pint" member of anything!

I knew I'd never get you into Lycra - not with that "holiday weight" you are carrying  Tongue

But seriously - if you get the cycle helmet and 5 wheeled skates - lycra is not far behind!!!

(NOTE Mike hasn't worn lycra and he has 5 wheeled skates - and TEACHES the speed skating !!!)

Right - so the plan is to go for full membership... but then *lose* the skin suit?

Skintight clothing is a shady area...  a large part of it IMO depends if you are confident enough about your body to pull it off. Think about how professional you'd look in it! Wink

LOL well that's it isn't it? Helmet, sunglasses, lycra suit and total anonymity....

But at the same time - could I step outside the house in it??? Well perhaps if someone fatter than me was wearing one too  Tongue LOL - no I am probably NOT confident enough about myself to wear one!

Hmm although it's probably really great - no clothing bashing around between your knees and under your arms - probably quite a free feeling...

And I'd have never EVER considered wearing one had there not been this "team" - when you are motoring up and down the swiss alps and there are tonnes of people in skin suits on bikes I've always thought they looked crazy... perhaps it's all about losing your marbles...

No way!!  I give you all the credit in the world for becoming a better skater and wearing the correct gear is part of the sport when you get serious about it so I still say go for it!   Smiley
