Um...whow. I knew they had gone for a bit; sounds like I got a really good deal then (almost as good as the Filch Coat card for $3 and some change). I feel all warm fuzzy now. Cheesy

It'll probably turn on me.  Undecided I remember before my SS case (the first case of cards I ever got, GOF will be the second :p) I'd bought a lot of PoAU boxes, about one every three or so weeks, and got some excellent cards over the space of a few boxes (Rupert Grint Auto Card, Daily Prophet, Maruader's Map, Aunt Marge's Coat, slythering tie [though I never got the four cards I wanted that I consider my own personal holy grail of potter cards  :'(]) but then I got my SS case and my luck when down south. Blagh. Oh well. It happens.

We all need Lik O-Rish Spider (John) to rub our cases, he has the best luck of all of us. Wink

I can assure you some of us have a lot less luck.  I opened I don't even want to say how many cases of SS (it was a lot) and didn't get many of the cards that you would think you would have to get if you opened as much as I did (I think Anna had some bad luck with SS also ((right Anna)).

And even MORE of Update I opened with very very little luck for the cards I really had on my list.  Of course I expected I would get at least one Lupin, Harry Quiddich, Diggory Quiddich, Nevilles Robe, Sleeping bag in pretty much every case, but it was pretty sad when it was all said and done.  One DP, One Muaraders Map, One Buckbeak, and only a Rupert auto of the top 3.  No aunt Marge, No Rosmerta, No Aunt Marge autos, No Pansy Parkinsons Autos, No wanted poster, etc, etc.  And again I won't say how much I opened out of embarassment but it was in the double digits.

Of course you have to have a little luck with Artbox stuff, that is just the way it is.  That is why I love Inkworks if you open a whole case of something you are going to get darn near a complete set...maybe less the one or two real tough cards.

What were your Big four you wanted to pull?

My best pulls were 2 Sorcerer's Stones.  I didn't pull any of the low numbered props from 4 cases (I ended up buying a prop set off of eBay).  I did pull a variant Wizard Candy card later from a box, but as a whole, I have lousy luck with cases. Tongue

Oh, four that this lad will never have in his collection. An Emma Watson auto (any of the three, don't matter to me), Hermione's Pink Top, Gryffindor Tie (it was a battle between this and the Monster Book of Monsters card to go on my grail list, but I figure I actually have a chance of getting the MBoM some day; I know, my logic is not all that great  Roll Eyes ), and the PoA DP (there are SS cards I really want to, wand card, etc; but since I formulated my wanted four back when I first started collecting Potter Cards, I'm sticking with those I've picked  Tongue ). I'm forced by necessity to be thrifty with what I can spend towards cards, so there are just some cards I won't have. It's life, I'll live (well, I certainly hope so; I mean, death by cards, that's just not a very good headline for an obituary, and I bet it'd leave quite a mess  Evil ).

Heh, I didn't even pull that. I was only able to get one case, and the only really good card I pulled from it was the John Hurt auto (which, I have to admit, being as big a John Hurt fan as I am, that pretty much made up for the rest of the case, personally); though I did manage to pull the red quidditch sweater costume card in a box I bought later, so that was nice. Smiley

I didn't get a John Hurt auto or a Quidditch Sweater either. Sad  Two more cards I had to buy/trade for. Tongue

The best money I've spent lately? Upper Deck has a thing about not producing binders for their card set *boo!* but I found a Fantastic Four 3 ring binder (in the school supply aisle) reduced to under $1. Now my cards have a home Smiley Now if I could just find binders for my other homeless cards ...

There were some really nice Batman Begins binders at Wal-Mart, marked down from $10 to $3, but they were the kind with the zipper around three sides.  There was no way to cut off the fabric and zipper without making a mess of the binder. Undecided

My best deal lately was an auction for the Star Wars ROTS 2-card lenticular set (Anakin morphing into Darth Vader).  I won them for one cent! Cheesy  I felt bad for the seller, so I sent him a little extra to cover his eBay fees.

Wow, great price on that card!!  And the Filch card!!  I wish I had that luck lately.

Although, I only bought 7 boxes of SS, I think, all at different times (4 different sellers), and one did have a John Hurt auto in it.  Another had a nice Pepper Imps Wizard Candy too.  So I can't complain.

I *saw* those and passed for the same reasons Sad Still, I keep my eye out - I still need a bunch from older sets - American Idol Transformers, etc. Someday, someone will make a binder for them Wink I just know it!

I got a Sirius prison lenticular for a penny as well once, but I also got another item from the seller at the same time, and the shipping was a bit high, so I didn't give him anything extra for the fees Undecided
