Has anyone received any cards like this???

I purchased a case of SS cards.  And within that case, I had two boxes that had "defective" base cards in them.  I would say about 20 to 30 cards per box had the foil not even printed on them.  They were actually stamped, but it looks like they ran out of foil or something.  On most of these cards, you can see traces of foil. But it's mainly black.  Any suggestions on this???

Some people might think those are variants, but I think they're defects.  You should send an email to Artbox and see if they can replace the cards for you.

Your pic isn't showing up, but I know what you are talking about I probably have like 100 of them, I had a few boxes that had that problem.  I certainly wouldn't consider them a variant, like KB said, but I agree some people probably would.  I really didn't do anything about it, because I have so many spare base cards I have boxes full of them.

You could also try selling them on eBay.  Someone might be happy to buy your "base card variants."

If I remember correctly someone on the board had "variant" or "defective" depending on your POV that they sold on the bay...I don't remember exactly who I think it was one of our Women of Oz.  I think they went for a few bucks.  I don't know if it would be worth the postage to send them back to Artbox as they will probably just give you base card replacements unless you need them for a set but with a case I am sure you have commons coming out of your ears.

Oh I have plenty!!! Actually had two cases.  I mainly wanted to know if this happened elsewhere and if anyone tried doing anything about it.

Artbox is pretty good about replacing defective cards, if you want to go that route.  If you have 20 or 30 cards with the foil problem, it might be worth the 35-cent listing fee to put them in an auction and see if anyone bids.

That would be me. I had a few with gold outline, and sold one on ebay for $au5.50 to a woman in the US...

Never had that with Harry Potter but I do have a Return of The King base set with no foil on the cards. It was weird 1 case had 1-45 and a different case had 46-89. The checklist had no foil of course but that really strange but cool.

Do you think I should list these mixed in with good cards to make a full base set, sell them individually, or the defective ones just as an incomplete set?

If it were me, I'd sell all of the defective cards in one auction, without any other base cards.

  That would be a good idea to sell the "incomplete" set on Some might be wanting to complete a set with these kind of cards.

It would also be difficult to sell 30 separate base cards, hoping that enough people will bid on each card to make the effort worthwhile.  If you put all of them in one auction, you won't need as a big a pool of collectors to be interested in your variants.
