Hello, sorry if this is in the wrong secton but it doesn't have anything to do with any particular card set . Basically, I've been using the normal 9 pocket sleeves, Ultra Pro Platinum ones to be precise to hold all of my trading cards in. Today I was thinking about investing in some Screwdown Holders to keep my valuable cards safe as houses. Whilst I was reading various posts about other people who bought them for Harry Potter etc I keep seeing things like "100pt card". I know this relates to the thickness of a card, but seeing as I'm going to be putting in a few Charlie Choc Factory Prop/Costume cards in the holders as well as my Autos, I kind of need to know a bit more (currently most of my prop cards were in the normal platinum pages, until I realised that with the thickness of all the cards it restricts any movement and could possibly warp some of my cards in the long term  ). So if anyone could advise me on how thick a 100pt card is I would be very greatful.  |

The 100pt thick cards would actually be more along the lines of the Harry Potter case cards (they are 120 pt thick actually) and the wand box and things like that. I think most of the costumes from CatCF would fit in the 50pt, or even 35pt cases. The autos obviously in the smaller sizes. When you find the cases, they do specify their size on them.

aha! very nice link, thanks  1 more question. Is it possible to put any type of screwdowns into a binder ? I've looked at all the different variations from 9 pocket screwdowns to 1 pocket screwdowns, but I have yet to work out how you can display them in a binder (I can't see any ring holes so that you can slot it into a binder...maybe im not looking properly). Some of us use the 4 pocket pages and put the screwdowns in those. It tends to get kind of heavy though. Maybe someone else has found a better idea.

I have screwdowns in 4-pocket pages, but you have to be careful because it's easy for the screwdowns to fall out. I think Anna uses archival quality, double-sided tape to keep the pockets closed. Depending on how many cards you have, if you put every insert in a screwdown, you'll need multiple binders for each set.
I tend to put the most expensive and the thickest cards in screwdowns and the rest in 9-pocket pages. This way, I've been able to use just one binder per set.

Are you talking about those screw downs that hold nine cards and are sort of like a picture frame? They do make one pocket biner pages to hold things such as sell sheets. Those 9 card screw downs may fit in those. It isn't a bad idea actually.....

Well I don't know really, I've got various things floating around my mind at the moment  I think I'll try and buy a mix of screwdown holders etc so I can experiment and see what looks top notch. Just have to find someone in the US who has a decent postage price  |

But I'm not sure they make a 9 card frame that will be deep enough to hold props or costumes.

Ed, Sci-Fi cards, had some autos/costumes (I believe) displayed in the 9 frame linke holders. I could be wrong. I was concerned they might not fit the costumes/props either, but I think certain ones would fit. Obviously, not all of them. |

true, my current plan is to get a couple of each and experiment. I think I'll need to buy some of the 9 pocket screwdowns anyway, as I have some auto cards to put in them. After that I may just buy 2 of each type and experiment with what looks good. ie Buy; 2 x 4 pocket screwdowns, 2 x 6 pocket screwdowns, single screwdowns (I want to try what you suggested Kelly, by putting them into a 4 pocket sleeve page). I take it a normal single screwdown doesn't fit into 1 of the pockets on a 6 pocket sleeve ? No it doesn't. The only cards that fit 6-pocket pages are the wide trading cards. I don't know how much the screwdown holders weigh, but you would think that maybe the manufacturers would come up with a way to display them in a binder or something (maybe they have, I just can't find any info ) Screwdown holders are pretty heavy, but it's the thickness that uses up all the room in the binders.  I have yet to find pages that fit screwdown holders properly, and I've searched extensively. I can rule out displaying the cards in my cabinet for the time being as I have plans for that space (ie Palisades Muppet toys still in their box...what can I say, I'm a fan ) Muppets are cool!  |

Thanks for the replies all. I found an american site (won't list it...not sure if it's allowed or not) to buy some screwdowns from. Bought 50 PC5 II (1 screw, normal thickness) 50 PC6 II (1 screw, thicker) 5 PC18 II (Real thick) - (Don't know how many of these types I'll use, but if my curent cards don't need them I imagine that there may be a couple in H Potter or LOTR) & 25 4-pocket pages. All in all it cost about $64 + $65 airmail shipping I shopped around a bit, and thought although the shipping spoils it a bit, it's worth it when I think of the value of some of my autos **watches the thousands of links posted where you can buy all of that for £5** Oh well  |
