The artist, Joe Corroney, is selling it on eBay to benefit the American Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

WOW!! What a card!! Shocked
That's really a fantastic sketch card and a very generous gesture from the artist to auction it to benefit others at such a difficult time.
I hope it sells for a good price because it's outstanding and for a very worthy cause.
Three cheers for Joe Corroney ..... Grin Grin Grin

Lovely card and a worthy cause, but...does America need to ask for aid when the space program and war in Iraq is draining their income?

The American government is not running this auction.  It is up for sale by a private citizen who is donating this card out of the goodness of his heart.  I think your post is out of line considering how many people are dead and homeless.  Angry

Thanks for asking to have the topic locked.  I'm getting sort of tired of checking threads like this and instead of reading about the topic posted, I get a political commentary instead.  That's not what I'm on this forum for.  By the way, the US government is spending BILLIONS of dollars on flood relief (not including private donations) and we have not asked for one penny from any foriegn government.

I definitely did NOT start this thread so it would turn into a debate about US government spending.  I saw a beautiful card that's being sold to benefit a worthy cause and thought people here might like to see it.  Considering that this is a discussion about a trading card, I think the comment in question is inappropriate, at best.  It certainly offended me.

If people want to make remarks about politics, please do so in the general discussion section of the forum, with the thread properly labelled so that it can be avoided by those who don't want to read it.  There are also a multitude of political forums/message boards/newsgroups where people can express their opinions.

This topic is now, unfortunately, locked.

Lovely card and a worthy cause

...was all you needed to say. If you have beef to cook then please start a new topic, especially if it is likely to upset people and render a perfectly good topic useless.

Thanks for locking the topic Cindy
