Rain, Thunder and Lightening

It's is really pouring it down here, It is raining, lots and lots of lightening and thunder about every few seconds and it has been like this for the past 30 mins 

Im really hungrey and want to go to the chippy but don't want to go out in it!!

The lights and TV keep going off etc as well 

Is anyone in the UK getting this weather or is it just the North East?

I'm In Derby (in the Midands)and it's just starting here. Hopefully no problems with the power though

well it is 2 am here and i want sleep but i am not going to get any so if you want chinese then you had better go gets some but make sure you ring the place first as they might not have power either

Yep ... it's raining in my bit of Derby too, though not pelting down ... rumbles of thunder and the odd flash of lightning and a very pretty rainbow over the city centre about quarter of an hour ago.
No problems with with the power failing here Martyn, so I'd get your coat on and get your Chinese!

It is wierd there seems to be this phenomenom of bad wheather happening around the world lately. Two nights ago we had major thunderstorms here in Melbourne (australia)....well over my side of the city anyway. The rain and wind was sooo bad...when the lightning came it lit up the whole sky...and the thunder was so loud at one stage that my whole house shook and the power flickered on and off for a little while.

Very strange, have not had weather like that in a while and i have never seen lightning so bright that it has lit up the sky so much...

Ok here in Kent we'll have the rain as its very hot even now, but you can keep the thunder (I hate it).

Yep we experienced it about half an hour ago - if you are currently experiencing the storm and you are not surge protected both on your power and your phone line SWITCH OFF AND DISCONNECT YOUR COMPUTER

Well the storm didn't amount to much here tonight which is a pity as it's stll very close and sticky.
Good advice there Miss Roz regarding the use of computers during electrical storms ...or should I say switching them OFF till it's all safely passed.
