Well what can I say Joy and i have just got back from Edinburgh we went to the film Festival and we saw the new Joss Weadon Film Serenity.

And all I can say is that if you don't go see this film when it is released you would be mad

I think it is the best Sci-fi film I have seen in years (way better than starwars episode 1 2 or 3 not that that is really that difficult)

If you have not seen Firefly it works great as a stand alone film but if you have seen firfly you will appreciate it even more.

So before you go in october to see it watch Firefly go buy!!!!

by the way roz we need a serenity forum when the film comes out Wink

Joss was there earlyer in the week but had gone to London (who wants to go there?) so I never got to see him  :'(

I have no words to say how jealous I am.  Us mere mortals have weeks and weeks to wait for the film.  But I am so relieved it is good  Grin  Who knows a second season could, maybe, perhaps be made  Praying

There is so much I want to ask.  I know who dies and who lives but not how.  Do you find out about Shepard Book?  Are the men with blue hands in it?  Does Wash find the crappy planet where he is a hero?

No I don't really want answers to any of those questions but I am soooooooo excited now  Grin Grin Grin

You know I can't tell you who dies (I thought I knew but lets just say - I had no idea!!!)  and I can't tell you what happens but what I will say is that while Chris and I were at London Film and Comic Con I went to see Adam Baldwin do his talk and he said that if the film was successful. Joss may get a three picture deal  Grin

WOO HOO

anyhoo lets just say that you'll laugh, you'll cry and it'll change your life..........well maybe not change your life but will want to see it again!

I just saw Serenity and I thought it was a really good movie.  Very action packed which Phil and I love.  I'm glad I watched a few episodes of Firefly before seeing it, but Phil hadn't seen any episodes and he still thought it was good.  "You can't go wrong with hardcore chicks and guns." (His quote, not mine)  Roll Eyes One question though, why was almost all the writing in the movie in Japanese?

Finally saw the film today and thought it was amazing  Grin  All the characters were the same and the script was spot on.

Kelly in Firefly there were a lot of references to Japan and the Orient.  Did you notice how Mal and the crew spoke a language I assume was Japanese when they were stressed?  Well in the series they always used to 'swear' like this.  I took it that it was like Bladerunner, where in the future the East was the dominant culture.

Two gripes though (I won't be too specific in case people haven't seen it yet)

1.  The flashback scene at the beginning with River and Simon.  This went against some of the main themes in the series.

2.  Why weren't the baddies wearing blue gloves  Hopping Mad

Very, very minor grumbles.  A great film though and looking forward to the sequels  Smiley

The language in Firefly is Chinese, Mandarian to be precise. If you want translations from the tv series try

Thanks m.o.b.  I wasn't actually sure if it was a real language or not but I guessed they were saying some rudish things.  I didn't know some were quite so funny though  ROFL!

Great news for people like me who didn't get to see Serenity or for people in the US who did get to see it and loved it...Serenity is scheduled to come out on Region 1 DVD December 20th  Grin It won't be as fun as seeing it on the big screen would have been but I can't wait to see it anyway, I know one thing I am asking Santa for for Christmas  Wink ROFL!
