Ok my youngest brother Martin told me the folllowing today:

He saw an interview with JKR where she said the Half Blood Prince would die in book 7 and that he was related to Harry Potter.  I questioned him closely (yes you know the thing, bright lights, thumb screws etc) and he swore it was true but couldn't remember which channel he saw it on.

Now Martin is not a HP book reader but loves the films.  He had no idea who the HBP was or that he was even named in this book.  So my question - has anyone else heard this?  The thought of Snape dying is no great surprise but that he is related to Harry?  If this interview does exist the word relate could mean a number of things.

But first thing first, has anyone heard these two rumours?

I don't believe it, for one reason.  JK would never reveal such important plot information.

The possibility that HP and Snape might be related isn't that far fetched if you think about it ... didn't Sirius say in OotP that all pure blood wizarding families are related because of lack of numbers ... so if you take that statement one stage further, surely the 'wizarding' bit of SS and HP could  be linked either by marriage or very distantly like Molly and Arthur?

I've not heard that one before Sharon and I'll be sure to keep a lookout for it in the future, though it's very doubtful JKR would let it slip!

Thank you    Everyone has confirmed what I was thinking - brothers are just put on this planet to wind up their sisters    But I am very impressed with his acting skills - I was almost convinced

Yeah that seems far too much intimate detail for JK to give away, especially since in the Mugglenet interview she wouldn't even say if he might be evil or good

Where did you get the thumb screws? I was looking for a pair.

Thumb screws come as standard issue to sisters in the UK    And I would recommend halogen bulbs for interigation - very bright and they last a long time
