Threat to Voldemort I wouldn't think so, although the portrait might be of some help to Harry.

Yes I am sure the portrait will be of some help but I think it will be in a morale boosting sort of way rather than practical help.  Plus it may not be the portrait in Hogwarts that Harry speaks to.  I doubt very much that someone like Dumbledore had only ever had one portrait painted.  In which case he will be able to travel between all of his pictures.

Oooo wouldn't it be good if Harry goes to Godricks Hollow and finds a portrait of Albus in the ruins of the house. Although knowing this is set in Briton they would have built a block of flats on the site by now  ROFL!

I think the whole DD death idea is so that Harry has to do it on his own, not hiding behind DD.

I agree.  We all knew that Harry would have to meet Voldemort in the end--the prophecy said as much.  I still think Dumbledore will have some role in the 7th book. Sharon, I'll bet you are right, Dumbledore will be able to travel between paintings...who knows where he will pop up!  Pink, your idea about the Pensieve is really interesting...hadn't thought about it, but he and Dumbledore did spend a great deal of time in HBP with it...much to think about on that one.

Still, we don't know Snape's story yet (at least I hope we don't) and there is Wormtail, who is in Harry's debt after Harry saved his life in POA--that has got to come into play regarding the final battle.  Then there is the Veil--what is that about?  It's puzzling me to no end.   Undecided

Did you see that Borders Bookstore in New York and Indiana are taking pre-orders!!!!!!!! I checked their website, but they only have sign ups for e-mail alerts.   Undecided  I'm not sure they are supposed to take reservations before an official release date at the very least.  Huh

Quick question, did JKR give any hints on the ideas of horcuxes? (sp?)
I was thinking missing ones could maybe be people, houses (black house) etc?  Wink

I think there is another thread we discussed this on ages ago.  A horcrux can be anything - animal, vegetable or mineral  ROFL!.  We came up with quite a few possibilities from the Sorting Hat all the way to Harry himself.  I think one of the possibilities was something young Tom took from the orphanage with him but I can't quite remember  Undecided

Hello again! I believe that we have all discussed the horcruxes before.  Roll Eyes but I have a theory that may or may not make sense.. so here goes.... what if we can't see the forest for the trees?  Meaning that maybe the last horcruxe is or was the Riddle Tombstone. wouldn't VM have to have a horcruxe to be brought back to life this time as well?  We know that he used Harry's blood but he didn't have to.. he wanted to. but he had the ceremony at the grave yard. Just a thought.  I can't wait until book seven comes out.

That's an interesting theory.  I hadn't thought of the Riddle Tombstone.  I do think it is significant that Voldemort has Harry's blood running through his veins.  I can't get over the sentence in GOF that said something like: upon learning that Voldemort took some of Harry's blood, Dumbledore had what appeared to Harry as a look of triumph.

I was also thinking about that part in SS where Harry learns that drinking a Unicorns' blood curses the drinker...giving them a half-life, a cursed life.  If that is so, wouldn't Voldemort (if Harry succeeds in destroying every horcrux and forces him to be mortal once again) have a half-life anyway because he drank the unicorn blood? And since he has been living by virtue of every horcrux, wouldn't he just, you know, drop dead because he's kind of used up his "half-life?" Does that make sense--it probably doesn't...I'm trying to find any way I can to have Harry survive.  Tongue

i also hadnt thought about the tombstone, but its a good point about needing one to come back at that point.........

bitsy i love your point about the unicorn blood! its got to have some significance hasnt it!?!? i mean shoe wouldnt of made a big deal of it if it wasnt going to be mentioned again, i havent read that book for a while so i might start it tonight to try and find something else out  Grin

we'll keep harry alive dont worry  ROFL! ROFL!

I think the tombstone is a great idea but if it is a horcrux I am not sure it has been used yet.  Once we found out about Voldemort and the horcruxes I sort of assumed the one to resurrect him in the graveyard was Pettigrew's hand  Undecided.  Also for no good reason I assumed the item would be destroyed in the process.  But I think you are right in thinking they will go back to the graveyard, I seem to remember here being some discussion about this in the extras on one of the films.

Guess what? I wasn't off my rocker after all! J.K. Rowling said that the "gleam of triumph" on Dumbledore's face at the end of GOF when he realizes that Voldemort used Harry's blood is "still enormously significant."

Now, any guesses how this is going to play out?

i think it all has something to  do with the protection that is in harry ( his mother dying to protect him )  i think in some way this will make voldermort weaker because it is not something he could understand  and harry know and understands that kind of love
