What a nightmare! But I rushed into town and we spent the rest of the morning waiting for a book signing of Howl's Moving Castle (UK Premiere tonight) - needlesstosay we did this in some comfort on a nice leather sofa in the store Smiley after taking advantage of the stores coffee shop too Smiley

But how annoying is it? Has anyone else had problems?

Also, all around town they only had the children's edition, I had to ask in plenty of stores but only one could provide me with the adult one, and even they said "we got so few in that we've not put them on display". If Mark and I are going to buy 2 copies of the same book, they might as well be subtley different.  ROFL!

Indeed they did - a huge consignment stood right by the entrance (must have been at least 100 copies if not more) when I was there today.  And a stonking £7.97 a copy.  WH Smith were selling it for £11.99 this morning - £11.99!!!!!!!!!!  Everywhere else was £8.99 or less.  No wonder they are suffering on the high street.

My adult copy turned up promptly at 9.00am from Amazon.  Sorry to hear your woes Roz  Sad

He hee - sounds like they all went to Tesco then Smiley

Well - my Mum got one at Sainsbury's yesterday morning for £8.07 or something ridiculously low as my brother works there so they get staff discount. There's a shop in my parents village that opened at midnight (this is a sleepy village of 3000 so this really was a very cool to do) and he ran out of HP yesterday and so ran to Tesco to buy some more because their standard price is as cheap as he pays wholesale - I think Mum should offer to buy more at Sainsbury's for him myself Wink  ROFL! and he sells at the same but it keeps people coming in the shop I suppose!

Mine arrived at 10.53am by which time I was tearing my hair out.

No one had been allowed to turn on the radio or TV just in case someone gave the plot away. Praying

Everyone else made the meals whilst I read for 12 hours until I'd finished.

I would have DIED if mine hadn't turned up.  I'd have had to walk round with ear plugs in.

hi all, new to these forums.  A question, what does the Adult Edition have? Is it a different cover or something?

The adult copies are definately in short supply! The only shop I managed to find one was in Borders this weekend.
They only had a pile of about 20 lleft, and bear in mind they were not all First Edition/First printings! The majority were marked '3' where it normally states 'First Edition' - so I assume it refers to the third print-run. Anyway, I scoured through and found a First Edition and it now sits proudly on my shelf, although I've not managed to read it yet! (I've just finished the Philip Pullman His Darl Materials Trilogy, which BTW is superb!!!!!!)
I reckon the adult copies are definately stylish and will be more rare in the future!

The adult edition is easy to find in Australia, us aussies seem to prefer the kids edition, no matter what our age  Cool

Are the Australian ones printed by Bloomsbury UK? I think the UK ones are printed by Clays but I am not near a book so I can't remember, I would have thought it would be much better to print them over there to be honest - saving all that heavy shipping, and of course creating more "variations" for poor poor collectors Wink
