Star Wars Revenge of the Sith - Topps/PSA Promo 1/1 Set

Did anyone notice this special set auctioned off via Topps Vault (eBay) over the last month. The set consisted of the 90 regular cards, each specially stamped  "Promo 1/1" on the front and with a unique serial number on the back and sealed in a PSA plastic card case. The auctions are all finished now. The prices per card varied from just under $100 to $1526 for the #2 Darth Vader card.

IMO I think it is kind of silly to consider that type of thing a 1/1. 

As most know I started with sports card collecting and a few years back some of the manufacturers started doing these stupid stamping cards BS thing at shows.  So say you buy a special pack from them at a show (either at their booth or sometimes they will make special boxes for the show) and they stamp the cards (for example) spring expo 1/1 or 1/5, Even though they are putting the same cards they put in regular releases.

Now some people (though very few by now) actually feel these are more valuable cards, but I wouldn't pay any more for the stamped logo, rather I think it clutters up the card. :'(

Well just my opinion, but I think it is a ploy by the Manufacturers to trying to increase the value of their cards or products. 

 )Just think how much money they (TOPPS) made off doing that with that set, plus most grading companies will give better grades to cards sent from manufacturers based on the amount of money they make off of those big deals.

I agree - it's foolish. I wouldn't pay more than £4 for the entire set - in exactly WHAT way is it a 1/1?

It's the only one in a funny plastic box? Hmmm that's not going to tempt me!

Let's face it each card is probably a 1/50,000 or more - it's just plain wrong and I am surprised people bought into it

Perhaps if I was a hardcore star wars fan it would be different but it really would have to be authenticated and signed to get me interested - just my 2 cents of course because we are all different and have different ideas as to what we want to collect

I had/have some pretty strong opinions on this idea. I think it was a mistake and a pity they will be enoucraged to do so again but such bidding.
I agree, we shouldn't look down on how people collect, it's a very individual thing, but to see out to intentionally make it impossible for ANYONE to complete a set, that's just plain wrong.
According to the logiv of which I collect, this set would require assimilation, but I can't afford it nor is it *worthy* of being something I can't have...say a 1/5 Serling auto or a 1/5 Roddenberry...THAT is at least worthy of being coveted and mounred at it's loss.
