Along with a multitude of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Artbox don't seem to have forgotten us loyal HP fans for the SDCC.

They have released a 45 card boxed set of card sized art prints of Mary Grandpre's magnificent work in the HP books. Worldwide most prints of the HP books are not illustrated (I remember JK muttering that she didn't want to interfere with our imagination) - anyway - this means that a lot of people outside the US have never seen these prints, I haven't at any rate Smiley

So here's some pics...

Tom has them for sale up on ebay already although I thought the con was about a month away  Undecided

oi! Stop stirring Wink

And no it probably just means that JK was probably outvoted in the States Wink

He hee - I believe these are going to be in bookstores in the US - no such luck in the UK yet but you never know Wink and Aus? Well you can keep on dreaming.

Ooh and in other news - this was initially going to be for the San Diego Comic Con - but now it's not... so maybe Artbox have forgotten us HP collectors after all (ha ha - NOW who'e stirring... that would be me Tongue).

Ooooooh -- I love this set!  The illustrations in my books are black and white, so it's really nice to see them in color.  I can't wait to get this!

Mine arrived today.  (Thanks Tom, yet again!)  Definitely kewl cards, though the box is a lot bigger than the cards.

Some of us over in the western colonies have indeed seen UK editions, because we wanted to see the text of Philosopher's Stone in the original language.  With the later books, they decided that Americans could handle words like jumper and trainers without having them translated. We still might have trouble with a hamburger bar, it's such a wimpy concept. (Just to mention a few that I recall. But why did they need to change "the apothecary shop" to just "the apothecary"?)

I must admit that I'm not as completist to get the GrandPré illustrated editions as I was for the Discworld Corgi editions, with the Kirby covers ...

Mine arrived today, too.  I really like them, but it would have been nice if the cards were oversized to better see the illustrations.  I did notice something interesting, though.

The SS movie cards have a purple color theme and POA has blue.  This set has purple for SS, green for COS, blue for POA, orange for GOF, and deep blue for OOTP.  Maybe the colors in the art set represent the colors Artbox will use for all of the HP movie sets through OOTP.
