The value of the drugs is irrelevant in Muslim culture. It is an offense and that is the issue. Western society has lost its moral bearings on many issues but not the Muslims.
I think the point of the value of the drugs assumes that the girl, if she were a professional drug dealer, would not have brought them into a country where they are worth 1/3 the value that she is coming from. It would seem that a pro would sell them in Australia, go to Indonesia and buy 3 times as much and then try to smuggle it back to Australia and make 9 x her investment. On the other hand if she did it, she is not very bright.
