Heck, I can barely afford one case, and that's with throwing any birthday money I may still get at 24 (well, 25 then) into the pot; but I'll still go for the case. Just because.

Huh It sure makes it tuff to decide. My son is getting money for his birthday in a few days from his grandpa and harry potter was one of his choices to spend it on. I wish I got that kind of money for my birthday! :'(

Hi all
At this stage i will probably buy a couple of boxes after the release rather than preorder anything.
I am actually excited about a few of the autos especially Cedric and Rita.
No way will i buy cases because of this but will save my money to pick these up on ebay and then buy boxes just for the thrill (and a base set or three).
SOOOOO looking forward to the movie and the set is MUCH, MUCH more interesting to me than Sorcerer's Stone.

I had no interest in that set at all and i think more people will be likely to pick up Goblet than Sorcerers. Just because its more recent and doesn't feature all the gang when they were still tiny. The base set alone will be fascinating.

I really liked both Azkaban sets and still have warm feelings about the two releases. Then again i didn't buy lots of cases and lose lots of money :'( but they are still a great couple of sets and have fantastic autos which we probably will never see in a release together again.
Anyway I can't wait for the release of the Goblet set and will be watching Ebay! with hawk eyes.
Cheers

Cool It almost seems that they dont have the money to sign the big name actors for autos and people that actually know how to be creative on the harry potter cards. Me and my son were talking about this the other day and he said that is why they produced so many of the POA update so they could pay the big 3. Evil What do you guys think?

I think that they made so many cases of PoAU because they had orders for so many cases.

Unfortunately people thought they were being clever - they were told they would probably be allocated (i.e. only given a small percentage of what they ordered), and they ordered double or more of what they wanted so that they would get enough.... so it all added up to disaster for dealers, especially in the UK where the whole market seems to still be in the doldrums because of it.

Personally I wouldn't collect HP sketches, but that's just a personal preference, but costumes and autos on one card is a great idea and has already been done in non-sports by Inkworks (X-files connections) and Rittenhouse (Enterprise) to name just a few.

I know what you mean Inger, the base set is something to look forward to a lot more than the SS one, but it was still a nice set to look at Cheesy

The latest issue of Non-Sport Update confirms that there will be an update set. Artbox wasn't allowed to use many CGI images for GOF, but they will be able to use them for GOFU. Someone from the company was quoted that they have plenty of costumes and props to support both sets.

I was just browsing eBay at the pre-sales of GOF cases and came across this one. What interested me was the breakdown this seller is quoting per case (from the VP of Artbox)!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/HARRY-POTTER-and-the-GOBLET-OF-FIRE-10-BOX-MASTER-CASE_W0QQitemZ5245240117QQcategoryZ2535QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If this is true, I will definitely be getting some cases!!! Praying

The seller is mistaken. The numbers he's quoting are not per case. They are the contents of the entire set; that is, Artbox is producing 9-12 autos, 8-10 props, 8-10 costumes, and 9 filmcards for the set. The likely breakdown per case could be 5 costumes, 5 props, 5 autos, and 3 filmcards.

He also made a mistake here: 2 -3 box toppers (ONE IN EVERY 4 BOXES !)

A box topper is an insert that's put inside each box, not one in every four boxes. I think he confused it with the case loaders -- the lenticulars that are packed one per case. Artbox has produced three case loaders for each HP release.

Last, but not least, look at this claim: MASTER is a fancy name for HOBBY, US BIGGER , (more money spending)!, dealers get "MASTER" cases, (rumor is they have a "bit more inserts", but no promise on that one).

He's implying that he's a bigger dealer and that he might be getting "master cases." Unless this is something new, Artbox hasn't done master cases. POA did have archive boxes, which contained all or most of the pack-pulled inserts, but they did not do archive boxes for POAU or SS.

For what it's worth, I had problems with this seller last spring. Undecided I would be very wary of any seller making claims like this one is.

OOOOOOOOOOOHHH! Now that you break it down like that, this seller does seem to be S-T-R-E-A-T-C-H-I-N-G the truth a tad!!! Angry As far as buying, I'll be buying from tomunique!!!

Anyone who buys from him and expects 35 inserts per case is going to be very disappointed!

I agree that a master case sounds a bit "fishy" to me. Undecided I had a lot of difficulty getting my cases last year. (they didnt order enough) I will be watching for the best deal on ebay Ebay! A good hint for better prices is to contact some of the owners on ebay. Sometimes they will give a better price quote and throw in shipping for free! Praying

I'll be joining HPFamily and going with Tom.
I have bought almost all my cases/boxes from him in the past (as well as an Azkaban master set in the early days-ie when i had money!).
He is the amongst the best i have dealt with on ebay.
Hmm makes me feel like buying another Update box...maybe this one will have my Triple auto! Roll Eyes

I wouldn't be interested in sketches and really hope Artbox doesn't go down that path. Pretty soon companies rely on sketches to sell their sets and let the autos and costume cards slip.
I'm sure its easier to get some little known artists to do some drawings than it is to get actors to sign cards.
Topps have done that with their Star Wars sets and i stopped buying them soon after (well soon after i got a Paul Rudish Clone Wars card-ok so some artists are worth it but there is alot of junk).

Ok I'm off to watch the trailer just one more time.
I so can't wait to see this film! I can't get over how consistantly well these movies have been cast. Victor and Cedric seem perfect to me even though i had my doubts when i first saw their pictures.
