True... its always difficult to predict prices at the start. But I still don't think that it will reach the prices of the PoA set. Call it Yak intuition. Or Kangaroo intuiition Wink

We'll see...

So you think the Devil's snare will be lower than the Permission slip?

I disagree.

I would certainly be willing to pay as much for DS as for the permission slip. Yes there are 800 cases this time, but that means these cards are more difficult to find within those 800 cases. Add on top of that that with the first set PoA 20 people got boxes that handed full master sets to them on a silver platter, that means that 20 permission slips were found very easily and cheaply.

It really would surprise me if I could get a Devil's snare for an average price of  US$ 186.88.

Bah - of course not Wink There are always exceptions. Take Hermione's top from PoA - goes for significantly more than lower numbered cards. The Sorcerer's (OK Philosopher's) Stone I can see going for quite a bit despite it being /265 mainly because its such an integral piece of the movie. Personally, I would rather pull a SS than a Devils snare, because I like it more than a DS (NOT that I would pass up one if I did pull it). I prefer looking at it in terms of the prop rather than the rarity.

Half the problem is the cards are numbered out of one number, but then appear to be more short printed than that, the Ron robe out of 100 from the first set appeared to be really numbered to 30 or 40 as hard as it was to get, not to mention the fact that it wasn't in hot boxes and every other short printed card (with exception of Harry /100) was in the hotbox.  Artbox seems to be inconsistent with some of the numbers.

Absoloutely, everything is not "as it seems" with the numbers, for sure.

There have been an awful lot more Peartree cards on ebay over the last 7 months or so than there have been Harry and Ron /100 cards, which is why people think they will have more luck finding hens teeth Wink

I just had to use an extreme example to back it up - but there ARE no hotboxes with this set, so that mixes it all up again Cheesy

Part of me is glad there is no hotboxes (not the part that opened one before and would love to have another) but the part of me that realizes that not having hotboxes makes the insertion ratios for some of the rarer cards a lot better.  If you take a way 20 of each of the inserts and put them in hotboxes, it becomes a lot harder to pull the really good cards.  So I can see why they stopped doing it.

One of every insert except for the Harry and Ron 100 cards, and the Peartree and Honeydukes... I daresay they didn't quite have a base set in them either Cheesy

Hotboxes are great but when you think about it. This set doesnt have any dud boxes and with 20 hotboxes that means a case would have at least two or three of the dud boxes. Everyone who box gets one or two card so basiclly with case you are getting a "Hotbox" so to speak because you never get a box with no inserts.

We'll see a big increase in the number of auctions when people start receiving their orders from Potomac.  They are supposedly going to start shipping by mid-week.

There will be hundreds of auctions by next weekend.  Most of the people who pre-ordered don't have their cases and boxes yet, and that includes many forum members.
