Football and Soccer

Now its not like me to be in the slightest bit interested in sport, but I have been wondering something. Well I know that Football in America is the big blokes in all the gear. But I am interested to know how much Soccer (our football) is played. Is it played by kids in school, and such? It seems like it is more playable by your normal type person.

Does any of this make sense?

Kids in the US play soccer in school, but it isn't a sport that is as popular as football, baseball and basketball.  Ice hockey also isn't as popular either, but hockey is more popular than soccer.

Thanks Anna. So do kids play Football at school or is that more specialed and thats why they play soccer?

The kids play all of the sports I mentioned.  Although where I live, ice hockey isn't played much because we don't have many ice rinks.  It may be more popular in the midwest and east coast, but I don't know for a fact if it is.

Here in Tampa we have out own hockey team so its popular here I played soccor in school buts its popular here in Tampa you could say, because we went against lots of teams from around the Bay

Soccer is really popular in my city for the community recreational leagues (younger kids)  It's not so popular in High School because football, basketball are what most people like to watch.  My 6 year old daughter plays on a soccer team right now.  2 more games to go before summer.  It's good because at that age, girls and boys play on the same team.  It's only instructional for the 5-6 year olds.  No goalies, no keeping score (but the kids still do)   Hockey isn't too popular here, there are'nt many ice rinks in Florida.

Interesting question.  Soccer has grown here in the United States over the last 10 years very rapidly.  Many High Schools have Varsity Teams but the sport is even more popular with Summer Leagues for everyone from young children to adults.  I lived in the State of Connecticut before moving to New Hampshire a few years ago and it is very popular in both States.  Ice Hockey and Ski Teams are very popular sports in school here in New Hampshire in addition to the traditional Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Track & Field sports.  Bode Miller comes from my Town of Franconia here in New Hampshire and he was just rated as the Top Men's Skier in the World.  He won 2 Silver Medals in the 2002 Winter Olympics for the U.S. Ski Team and has developed into an awsome skier as evidenced by his World Cup victories.  Our local High School Ski Teams both Men's and Women's won the State Championships this past Winter so snow sports are very popular around here.     It helps having Cannon Mountain Ski Area in your town as well!
