In the UK our books aren't illistrated, but I think else where they are. I was just wondering if there had been a picture of Lupin as the film version wasn't what I had imagined and I just wondered what other ideas oh him had been. Thanks

There is one on the back of OOTP. He's in the middle I think. Can anyone put up a scan for Morningangel_Iola?

There are drawings at the beginning of chapters 3 and 38. I think Lupin is also on the back of the book, but the picture doesn't jive with the image I have in my head.
If no one can post them today, I can scan and post tomorrow.

If no one can post them today, I can scan and post tomorrow That would be really great if you could. I didn't realise other countries had pictures of the characters in their books. Wonder why we didn't I expected Lupin to be a bit more, well, tatty is the only word I can think of. At least you could believe that Sirius, Snape and Lupin were about the right age to have gone to school together - not bad since Alan Rickman is quite a bit older (I think - sorry Alan if you are younger than I think )* * See how I have every faith that all the big Potter stars read the Yak Shack

I pictured Lupin tall, thin, and kind of sickly-looking. He hasn't had a job other than teaching at Hogwarts, so there can't have been much money for food and other necessities.
Alan Rickman is older than Gary Oldman and David Thewlis. Ah, the magic of stage makeup!

Hey, Sharon! Explain to this Yank what "tatty" means. Sorry I forget that I am an Eastender sometimes - even the Northerners from England don't understand me Tatty just means dishevelled, a bit ragged at the edges, like me on a Monday morning

Oh course Alan Rickman comes here all the time In the book they are all younger in there 30s I think. I always thought Lupin was quite sweet (without a tash:\), but as Sharon says more tatty, bless him.

I always thought Lupin was quite sweet (without a tash:\), So is this actually just an anti tash thing I think that the main adults (Lupin, Snape etc) would have to be late 30's early 40's by now. Assuming that is that James and Lilly didn't get married and have Harry almost straight from school.

JK said in a web chat (or maybe an interview) that Snape was 35 or 36 at the end of GOF. That would make Sirius the same age, and since Lupin's birthday is in March (according to JK's website), he was 36 at the end of GOF.

Yes that seems right. So in the Half Blood Prince they would be about 38. How old would Lucius Malfoy be then? Was he at school with them?

I think there's mention in OOTP that Malfoy is 42.

Lucius is older 40s I think as are the Weasleys. Lily and James married straight out of Hoggies but Harry didn't come along straight away

I just checked. In chapter 15 of OOTP, it says that Lucius is 41.

I wonder why he is never mentioned as being at school with the others. I sort of got the impression that he was in the same year as Arthur but I am sure the Weasley's are late 40's, early 50's.
