Have you ever had anything stolen?

Ok, I work part-time in Woolworths (Im still a student) and while at work today, this nice woman came to the checkout and started talking to me while I was packing her things,

& she started to talk about how just 10 minutes ago she had over £120 stole out of her bag while walking down the street. The "Pick Pocket" who done that must have been very talented as she never felt a thing or anything.

So within second they made over £120 without doing hardly anything. I just felt really sorry for the woman. Even though she had just started talking to me she seemed really nice.  :'(

So my question is - Have you ever had anything stolen from you, either by a pick pocket or and one?

Fortunately I havn't but my youngest (older) brother was burgled a few times in quick succession.

If I could have gotten hold of them at the time I would have rung their necks (my brother was totally devastated not to mention terrified they would come back).

Now I would just like to shake them and try to make them realise the damage they do and the fact that the value of the goods they steal does not balance the emotional damage they do.

Trouble is people like this just don't care - sad but true

I've never had anything stolen but I stole something out of my 3rd grade treasur box because I thought it was unfair that everyone got picked to get something out of it but me

When I was 19 (this is many, many years ago) I had my television stolen out of my apartment.  I was extremely annoyed because I only had one more payment to make on the darn thing.

ya our house was broken in to once and the cleared out the place even the fridge with christmas turkey(it was in mad december) but thankfully they left the photos so nothing that couldn't be replaced was taken thank god for insurance.

I had my previous laptop (that I had saved and scrimped for a year at my part time job to buy) stolen from my room when I was living at the student apartments last year. I was really angry because it had all my university work on it and photos etc and it was a really nice computer and pretty pricey. Luckily, my parents' insurance somehow covered it and I got a new one (my current lovely one).

Turned out that my flatmate did it - it was 10 metres away from me all the time   And I still don't have it back as it's being held as evidence for his court appearance (for a separate and much more serious crime) - and heaven knows when that will be

Many  years ago  as my kids where born i brought the boys id bracelets and the girls charm bracelet with a charm for each year of there lives at the time i was pretty broke so it took months to save up for each charm.

I was devasted they took those and many other things.

It's horrible - its the things that you can't replace that hurt the most. I had all these photos that I don't know if they are still there - whether the guy erased them or not

I work at a business owned by my family and we had a few problems with thieves.

We had a a mirror hanging on our wall with the Clydsdale Horses on it that we got from our local distributer and somehow without the weekend bartender seeing it someone managed to take it off the wall and steal it out of the bar.

This is not the only incident we had to deal with, their was other times things were stolen also. Anymore we have to put  multiple nails on things just to keep theives from the stuff we hang or display.

My family owns a small town bar and when things like this happen it hurts the business.

Its amazing how some people just get away with things without being seen. At Christmas I worked and John Lewis department stores and someone stole one of the paintings in our department which cost a fair deal. But how can someone just take a painting off the wall and wonder out the front door with it without being seen

That's what I said when someone stool the mirror off of our wall and it was a big mirror.

I can also remember when we had a John Wayne cardboard cutout that we got from our distributer and it was in the bar for a long time. A customer thought they would just pick it up and still eat but that time the bartender stopped them, sad to say though that because they were caught they decided to put a cigerette hole through John Waynes mouth.

Someone I work with (who is also a Yak Shacker) used to work in a cinema.  One day someone stole one of the giant speakers off the wall!

It was there at the beginning of the film and gone at the end.  How

I also went through a naughty patch where I stole things. When I was probably 5 or 6 I stole my grannies jewlery and wouldn't confess to it. Luckily it was all costume jewlery, but still - I stole it, hid it, and wouldn't tell anyone where it was.

And before anyone says anything - I did know better. I knew exactly what I was doing and planned it to the last detail. I was just naughty

Although I never stole anything I did once maliciously ruin something of my brothers through jealousy! Goodness knows what drove me to do it but I took a pair of scissors to the coat of my brothers Darth Vader figure!

I have never lived it down in my family but I was 5 (yes they were yellow clown safety scissors but they cut fine through his plastic coat  )

I have tried to make up for it these days by spoiling him a bit for instance I bought him a mobile phone for his last birthday - pay as you go admittedly (but it is the cheapest route for him) but with a colour screen and polyphonic ring tunes

So it's an awful story but I think he has forgiven me!

I have had my wallet stolen once - I rather foolishly left it in the changing rooms at school and when I got back from sports it was gone. It didn't have much in it but it was very annoying all the same.

Also when I was 13 or something I was walking though london and as I crossed the road near Picadilly Circus I felt something move in my pocket. I turned round and saw this other kid trying to pick my pocket! Well as soon as I saw him he disappeared but damn, I can't believe the sheer nerve of some people. And what exactly did he think he was going to gain by pickpocketing another child? It's not like you're going to be loaded at that age!!

I guess I'm quite lucky it's only little things that I have had stolen from me. Although the little things sometimes hurt, no matter how stuipd it may sound. My favourite colour is orange and there was an offer in Kelloggs Frosties when I was about 7 or 8 for bike spole refelctors with tony the tiger on them. They came in a variety of colours but I never seemed to get an orange one. Then I finally got an orange one and I took it into school to show everyone and first thing straight after the morning assembly someone had nicked it from my bag! I was totally devastated but the teachers showed me absolutely no sympathy.

I have lost my wallet 4 times.   (I'll never learn.)  Once I left it on the counter at the Post Office. Once it fell out of my pocket getting into the car at the mall. Once at the grocery store. And once on a tour bus in the Callejon de Huaylas in Peru.    Each time I had several hundred dollars in it. And each time I had it returned to me.          I always gave the person a generous reward, some of them refused at first but I always insisted.  Call it lucky I guess.    But I always try to treat people the way I'd like to be treated. And before you ask, ... No, I will not publish my itinerary so that you all can follow me around waiting for me to lose my wallet again.
PS I am always surprised to get it back, I suppose there is someone who looks out for us morons, anyway this one.

I had £40,000.00 worth of stock stolen from my Company 2 years ago.  Two Plasma screens, a bunch of data projectors and a few digital cameras.  The trouble they went to to get into the warehouse was immense.  Basically, they used an iron pole to chip away at the outside wall (hiding behind some large sheets of cardboard so nobody could see them), then through the brieze block (I think that's how you spell it), then they chipped another hole through the wall between the old and new warehouse sections, evaded all the alarm sensors by walking underneath them, opened the fire escape (that's when the alarm went off) and carted everything across the spare land at the back to a waiting van.  And then earlier this year somebody walked in through the front door, all the way down to the marketing office, nicked the Apple Mac and picked up 3 computers from the front office on the way out.  Oh, and the plant off the reception table!  Pressie for Mum obviously.

I also remember being in London a few years ago with my Mum.  we were on an escalator coming out of a tube station when I noticed this little kid standing next to me with his hand just about to delve into her coat pocket.  I barged against him and he was off in a flash.  Cheeky bugger.

I almost got pick-pocketed in Brissie earlier this year.   I was walking along South Bank with my satchel bag slung around behind me, and this group of high school kids were following really closely behind me.  One got so close and I realised what was about to happen so I grabbed my bag and slung it around my front, and then stopped to tell my mum what had almost happened, and the kids stopped too, and stood very close to us.  I was so annoyed, but they prob wouldnt have actually got my wallet as the front of the bag folder up and over the opening and i would have felt them trying to find my wallet...
