When do you expect to receive the cases?

They are shipping from the East Coast, so likely Thurs of next week.  I figure worst case scenario even if I have a really bad case and don't get any cards I am looking for I still could ebay them for $150 Undecided

We will see I will certainly let you know what I get.

I don't know if anyone else has had these same concerns...so interested what everyone else thinks.  I think SS release will be about the correct amount of cases.

But what worries me the most is I think they will crank up the next release (everyone will complain), then scale back again, then crank it up again....you get the picture.  Does anyone else think this will happen?

It's a concern, but let's hope Artbox have enough brains not to do that - the card market is too delicate to take it

I think people are being a bit closed with what they are buying at the moment in case it flops and people laugh at them Wink

If the print run really is as low as we've been hearing, I don't see how the set could flop.  I think people will be kicking themselves for not pre-ordering.

I still worry about all the people who buy cases just to either open and sell singles or sell boxes if the price goes up.  The people who broke cases of Update, and sold their cards right away and had no interest in collecting actually are the ones who did OK w. update.  Think of how high the first sales were.  I remember members joining like crazy and posting a topic for their ebay auctions.  How many of them did we never hear from again.

Perfect example was that lady who joined, posted her auctions, and then was nasty when someone used a few of there scans from ebay auctions on this site, she was a *)&$^.  Obviously this is up to the proper authorities (roz and Mak) but I would like to see a policy put in place, were anyone who joins during a release and then has the nerve to post auction links for there items should be suspended from the board.

Of course REAL shak members as always would be able to promote their auctions.

Yep - non community members posts should be removed  - what about at least 10 posts? After all some people may have signed up but not been big talkers but may have hung around for a while here!

Of course we would be sensible about it, but I am sure most of us can think of a few examples of what I mean.  Remember the guy trying to sell cases for extremely high prices on Update, but was going to give free shipping to shacker's. Roll Eyes

I agree with Roz.  When I first joined I was too scared to post anything.  Look at me now - no stopping me  Grin

But I also agree with beckham1 about the ones who just log on to put on adverts - they do stick out like a sore thumb.  And I am not sure I would trust them like the regular Shackers. Smiley

I will hold fire on another % update until the cards are out - I havn't done this much math since I was at school  Roll Eyes

Completely - it's just using our space, I will try to check in as often as possible, but if you see anything that offends you - or you think looks a bit dicy - please do bring it to my attention!

Thanks

I really want to hear predictions on this set now that we know most of the info

Will box prices go up after release?

Will there be any really valuable cards (especially considering there may not be what everyone would consider a BIG auto - although a few desirable ones)

I also think many of the speculators are going to stay out of this set as they probably lost $$ on the last set.  What does everyone think?

I guess the biggest question for me is how many people gave up after the last set.  I know the dream of master sets were ruined.  So I think many people have picked a few cards they like and gone that route.  I will probably pick and choose again on this set and call it good.

I hope so. I finally decided to pre-order a 3rd case now. Smiley  I really hope, i don't need too many cards (which can be found in boxes) afterwards to complete a Master Set.  Roll Eyes

They have numbered the boxes... we'll soon get onto it if they have numbered 2 boxes with the same number Wink

Alas Tower, I'd be surprised if you didn't still need a lot of pack inserted cards Sad - but we can hope for the best all the same. Remember Chris opened 33 cases of PoAU without getting a master set of pack pulled cards. But this is a smaller set and 3 cases is a larger proportion of the print run this time Smiley (not larger than 33 cases I admit) Cheesy But all the best anyway.

Oh and happy base set sorting, you should do 3 cases in no time... After that I start to wane a bit Sad

I'm going to take Anna's suggestion of sorting the cards, at least in piles of 10 (one stack 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc.), while I'm opening packs.  It'll take out some of the chore of doing it at the end, and make the fun of opening my two boxes last a little longer. Smiley

As for predictions, I think the set will take off once people start seeing the inserts on eBay.  It won't be to the same extent as POA original, but much better than POA update.  Collectors will be scrambling to find boxes come June.

IMHO, part of the reason POA prices soared was because the release was the first HP set done like other non-sport sets with memorabilia cards and it appealed to both collectors and general HP fans.  It took people by surprise.  That surprise is gone now, so I don't think we'll see prices like that again for HP cards (with the except of some of the super rare cards to come).

Yes, there will be some cards left, that's sure, especially most of the rarer cards. But let's hope, i'll have a little bit more luck than i had with my update case. That was really a very bad case.  :'(
