if anyone os going to Collectormania 7 can i ask a huge favour. i have a T'Pol from star trek enterprise costume card and she is signing at Collectormania so if i sent you the card and the cost of the auto and postage would you be able to get it signed for me.i know i'm cutting it close but hopefully

oh yes i know that rittenhouse are bringing out one in the next series(one jolene blalock auto costume card per 6 cases!!!!!!!!!) so there is no way in hell i will ever be able to afford it so why not try and make my own . if you can help though Roz  that would be brilliant

And in an effort to turn this into "the collectormania Star Trek thread" (I might change the title if that is ok with you Cian. I picked up an oversized skymotion Voygaer card from Skybox with the USS Voyager disappearing off into warp - made agggges ago! Before Rittenhouse had the license but after Topps had the ST license (boy it's changed hands a lot!)

I've got my eye on an auction for the one of the Captain beaming down, but I haven't seen any auctions for the Ship one in a while (maybe I haven't been looking properly).

But I picked it up for £10 so I was quite pleased It's unusual for me to find something old at a fair and really at a pretty fair price too in my humble opinion!

however yes i say make a video if the card its the only way and as for the hair ya i was thinking the same.maybe the cut it or something? because even taking in to account the time since they stopped filming where do they keep her hair?

Guiness? Me? No - I think it's more a "man" thing - and definitely a very "Irish man" thing

Take a look at this - it's about a meg so it won't be quick but I think it's awesome

Released in 1995 ish when the license was not yet Rittenhouse's - this is a Skybox Skymotion card - an oversized "send away" one.

Lucky for you there are only 2 to collect of each size (from Voyager) there are the normal trading card sized skymotion cards which were obtained by redemption and a larger ("oversized") card (about three times the size of the trading card proportioned one).

There were 2 card sets from Skybox covering the first season in two sets of Star Trek Voyager. In the boxes there were redemption cards to send away for a skymotion card - this redemption card was for a trading card sized skymotion card.

2 skymotion designs exist for Voyager (perhaps Lynne can clear up which came from which set etc when she next pops by)

One is as you have seen above - the USS Voyager going to warp. And the second is Janeway beaming (materialising on) to a planet. I don't have my Janeway small sized one to hand to take you a small video (it's no good scanning it!!!).

I have the 2 smaller ones, and picked up this oversized ship one at Collectormania, there's a Janeway oversized on Lynne's auction site I have my eye on and there's another on ebay I think too.

I do have a spare small sized skymotion card of Voyager going to warp  Cian so we'll talk about that if you like when I dig it out (tomorrow?).

Hmm I don't think I have explained that very well - fire away with questions Cian.

(Oh and they come in a paper slip case to protect them - which has the comm badge symbol in red on the front and tells you to hold it up to the light on the back )

I don't know the exact mechanism for skymotions vs lenticulars except that the skymotions are made by Kodak (a photo company) and use alot longer *series* of clips to make up the motion. This gives them a more fluid and longer scene to flip. It's a three second scene, 24 frames if I remember my stats correctly.

Go on then - make my collection incompletable He hee - actually my main collection is always going to be Voyager which at leasts limits things a little but I do like dabbling in other sets

 

Thanks very much for the info - I was a wee lass when this set came out (15) I got the base set and heard rumours about this card containing 3 seconds worth of images. I had no idea what it could possibly be (for some reason I remember mulling over in my mind what it could be made from on a Badminton court my opponent must have been pretty poor huh

My mind boggled at the thought - I couldn't imagine anything that could get 24 frames within it yet not be powered in some way. They really do feel cool and innovative even 10 years on which is certainly an achievement. A top notch product in my opinion - hats off to Kodak, they are deserving of their excellent reputation.
