Grin thanks everyone for telling me how young I am Wink

I've definitely had the most "odd looks" today of my life - well for starters I was wearing a "I am 25" badge, but it didn't stop there, I walked for 25 minutes through the streets of Cambridge from Jesus Green to the Geography Department carrying a huge kite (around 7 foot tall and 11 feet wide) - we decided it was easier to carry "as is" than dismantle since we felt we were going to snap the carbon fiber struts when we were putting it together (it took 3 of us bending them to assemble it - I was so worried that they would snap).

Anyway I have a picture of Mark holding the kite up - I'll post it when I get back tonight but bearing in mind Mark's 6 foot 3, you'll be able to giggle at the thought of us carrying it through Cambridge.

Smiley

Hey hey - and this is what I call "work" (playing with kites) because I am using it to get high resolution aerial photos of my site Cheesy

And I spent some cash on some nice new clothes*  Shocked but I'll be the smartest person around this Spring Wink

So thanks everyone, so far I've had a wonderful day Smiley and it's not over yet ... (well it is in Aus - sleep well Trey, Blackcat, McGonagal, FTY, Greenpaw, Choice of Luthien and anyone I have rudely forgotten.

*Gah, I'll have to get back to saving for SS now  Roll Eyes

Thanks everyone Smiley And thanks for the cards too (I hope I've PMed everyone who sent me a card already - if I haven't, then note it down in your diary and don't bother to send me a card next year as I clearly don't deserve one Wink).

If anyone wants any birthday cake they had better get here in the next 15 minutes  Cool

Thank you everyone for the kind birthday wishes! Definitely wonderful.  Smiley

It was actually a wonderful birthday--one of my friends here (whom I've known only since February) threw me a surprise party  Cheesy She had told me we'd do lunch after class and when we walked into the tearoom most of our class (our masters program) was there wishing me a happy birthday. She even had a card and had made a cake the night before. I was totally surprised and so touched. And I've had some wonderful cards from my friends back in the states, letting me know they haven't forgotten about me.
And the fun continues this weekend with a LOTR moot here in Wellington  Grin

I don't feel older...although I suppose that's good. Although 25 just sounds old...

Glad to hear you had a good day Roz--start saving up to come to NZ next year. We could really celebrate our birthdays!  Grin

How wonderful, especially when you are thousands of miles away from your old friends and family Cheesy

Although 25 just sounds old...

Count yourself lucky. I went around yesterday wearing an "I am 25" badge! No one could mistake me for the sprightly 24 year old I was yesterday.

Start saving up to come to NZ next year. We could really celebrate our birthdays!  Grin

Sounds  a great idea... wonder if we could get the Queen to join us Wink and Zach's little one Tongue

When I was 6 the Queen had everybody who was over the age of 12 and had their birthday on the 21st of April to a garden party at Buckingham palace...I was too young to go and now she never has any dos like that Wink

Boo!

Hiss!

So although I didn't have a Royal garden party to go to I still got sunburned Wink

And I raised a glass of Hardy's sparkling Australian wine (someone finished off all the champagne  Roll Eyes) to my first quarter century last night... ooh and I tucked into a chocolate cake with chocolate cream covered in a layer of solid chocolate... and then it was someone's great idea to give us all a blob of Ben and Jerry's cookie dough, chocolate and vanilla ice cream with it too!

What indulgence Cheesy
