No no, it's not my birthday - not for 6 days in fact But it is an important day. I bet Savage727 will get this one - Something happened in 1945 on this date the question is what, and why was it so shocking? Secondly it's the birthday of someone extremely important - so the second question is - who was born on April 15th 1452?? The winner gets the respect and admiration of the whole board, and if they live closeby to me, I'll come over and make them a cup of tea.

For the first one... I don't know - I thought it was end of WWII, but that was May 8 in Europe. And I thought I was a good history student The second - that is easy - Leonardo Da Vinci

Two things happened on April 15, 1945:
1. Franklin Delano Roosevelt died.
2. General George S. Patton visited the Buchenwald concentration camp for the first time.

Hey, I said I got a State refund, not a federal refund. In the end, I owed more than I got back. Makes me mad !!!!! Good question, what was the shocking thing?

Was it the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima? :'( From the scant things I recall from my history lessons, I believe it was this which effectively drew a line under the hostilities in WWII wasn't it? btw ... I didn't cheat and google the date to see what it would find either!

Well this will worry some people but my first 'brush' with history with the Open University was the 60s (At school I got an E for GCSE History, which obviously meant I was Excellent!)

I should point out that I was studying the 60s not in them Apparently Lenny Henry has been studying at the same time as me.
