Well I upgraded my Jim Thorpe to a nice one with a seam all the way through for now here is the auction pic I will replace when it is in hand, I don't think a scan or pic will do it justice.

We don't bother about trifling little things like that on this board Wink

I don't know anything about sports cards, is it because it's graded? It's numbered out of 500 so I don't see the fascination

There are a lot of factors in play with this card.  It's very difficult to get a perfect or near perfect card (especially from BGS) with black borders -- the slightest blemish or rough spot shows.  It's also a rookie card, an auto, and he's an excellent baseball player.  We've seen a few other trading cards that have "sold" for huge amounts of money, but as we know, it remains to be seen whether the winning bidder will go through with the sale.

Yes but you'll have to get it PSA/Beckett graded at the highest available quality, and to be totally fair to the guy who sold it to you - most cards don't come out of the packets as '10'...

Well I have 30 minutes to decide if I want to go for this one.  It is pretty cool if that is blood on the Gordie Howe jersey.  Of course being a Red Wings collector this is a fantastic card.  Blood on a jersey from the 50's pretty rare.  What do you think should I go for it.  I would cap out at about $200 if I did and that is more than I like to spend on any card.

I was at work I think I was about literally 1 or 2 seconds late.  :'(  I think I might have had it as there was a pretty fair gap between my bid and the winning one. Hopping Mad

Yeah, that sucks. :'(  BTW, your PM basket is still full.  I was trying to PM you about the hockey playoffs.  Phil was so upset with the Rangers that he was talking to himself during the game.

A few high end products have hit the sports market the last couple of months, here is one of the holy grails of the high end hockey product that came out that ran about $2,100 a case (6 packs in a case Shocked).   Now it is running about $3400+ a case.
