Hey guys, have you noticed whether there are many promos out for Revenge of the Sith yet? I've got P1 - available at Memorabilia or from inside the NSU magazine, but does anyone know anything else about the distribution. There are a couple of promo #5's going on ebay at the moment. I don't know anything about the other ones though  I'm also not a huge fan of cards that don't have autos/costume/prop cards in, but I am however somewhat of a starwars fan, so I may just go for some of these cards...the sketches look really good  |

Got an email from my local Hobby Shop guy said ROTS will be in Today (6th).
I will hopefully pick up my one box Wed night. I picked one box of ROTS for trade for HP POA Update cards.

ROTS??? Today??? Wow!  Actually I am getting to like sketch sets, from talking to other collectors they stick (often) to one artist and just have a collection by that artist. Or they take a 9 pocket page and look for 9 sketches of their favourite characters and scenes. At first when I came into this I didn't see the point in sketch cards, I just saw them as licensed fan art, and wished that they would get artists or concept artists to do the cards. That would still be my dream but I do like the normal sketches too |

ya no i like sketch cards and would love some from LOTR but i think they are a little week to hold up an entire set.imagine LOTR alan lee and john howe ones though. they could on their own!

Here is the info on the distribution of the promos: P1 -- Hobby (available with Diamond Previews at the end of January and in the April/May '05 issue of Non-Sport Update Magazine) P2 -- Retail/Mass-Market (available at the end of January) P3 -- StarWarsShop.com (free with purchase starting in February) P4 -- Celebration III (available at Celebration in April) P5 -- Wizard Magazine (in April issue #163) I currently have P1, P2, and P3. The new issue of Wizard is starting to show up so I should have P5 soon. I'm not going to Celebration 3, so if anyone is going and would be nice enough to snag me a P4, I'd appreciate it (and compensate you for it of course). Mark P.S. I just found some retail packs at a local Target. |

That would still be my dream but I do like the normal sketches too At first, I didn't really like the idea of sketch cards, too ... but I really enjoy Paul Rudish's sketches for Star Wars Heritage ... they are from the Clone Wars series that aired on Cartoon Network, and I like that style of animation. Down the road, I'll have to start getting some of those |

Do a search on "sith sketch" on ebay and you will come up with about 6 pages of them. Trouble is a lot of them are no different to the Heritage sketches from last year. Some look almost identical! And good old Mr. R. Martinez is back to haunt us with his skill (and I use the term very loosely). There are one or two nice looking cards but the best ones are by an artist called Cat Staggs - his/her artwork is absolutely stunning, very accurate renditions of the characters but a difficult 1:777 pull. Just collecting one artist is a good idea so I may end up going down that route with those ones. I must admit I'm not a fan of sketch cards either, I'd much rather have autos and props. I did end up with quite a lot of Heritage sketches via ebay and I bought 3 or 4 cases as well which was dumb. Better to do it via ebay, at least you get the ones you want  |

Don't start! I get very fumed up about Mr Martinez and what he claims to be "art" I did get my revenge with an eraser last weekend though Where sketch sets are concerned I definitely agree it can be nice to let the dealers take the rough end of the deal and pull all the cards (for better or for worse) but I guess there would be little (in the card world) better than pulling a miniture masterpiece out of a packet of cards |

While everyone isn't fond of Martinez's sketches for Heritage, I like the simplicity of his drawing. Yes, he probably (or most likely could have) done a lot better, but other artists included detail in their work. It's good to change things up. I'm not too familiar with the details of this set. Did each artist draw the same amount of sketch cards or were some artists rarer than others? Don't get me wrong ... I don't really want any of his sketches. I just don't think that they are all that bad, but I could be proved wrong Anyhow, I prefer props, costumes, and autos far more. Marks idea for concept artists and what not, however, would be far supreme! EDIT: Doing some research, I stumbled upon this site http://www.starwarssketchcards.com/ ... I didn't even know the Clone Wars Series had there own set with sketch cards! |

Clone wars was an awesome set that surprised everyone Needless to say since Martinez spent "so much time" on his sketches - he did the most for Heritage I believe and for Revenge of the Sith too. |

Yeah I collected that set when it was released before the sketch card craze took hold as Roz will testify....it was an awesome set with a sensible amount of artists. I highly encourage you to view the cards by Rudolpho Migliari......categorically the BEST sketch card artist of all time.

Rudolpho Migliari......categorically the BEST sketch card artist of all time. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend I politely disagree. While I enjoyed Migliari's work (yes, I have a couple in my collection) I loved Pablo Marcos' work in the Conan set, and my all-time favorites come from Marvel Creator's Collection - S.L Ryan's Gerroidur sketch is beyond words as are some of the Anthony Castrillo sketches - For this newest batch though, I'm taking a liking to Cat Staggs work - she's one of the new artists this time around. But, I digress. My loving husband brought me home three boxes as a SURPRISE!!! WOW!! Wonderful sketch cards you've pulled there and what a lovely thought to be bought boxes of cards as opposed to choccies! My fave pencil sketches from the Heritage set have to be those by Russell Walks. For the pen and ink sketches .... hmmm ... that's more tricky .. I think my faves would have to be Cynthia Cummins and Joe Corroney. I should add, that I'd love to actually own cards done by these people rather than just drool over them on the eBay listings, but most of them are out of my reach price-wise. Still ... I can look and enjoy them can't I!? I'm looking forward to seeing more of the ROTS cards in the coming weeks, after everyone has had chance to crack open a few cases of them and post the cards they've pulled for us to admire.  |

Opened my box yesterday, got a sketch card I wasn't that impressed with. A Fabbri most of his have seemed to be pretty good that I have seen so I was a little disappointed on that. It is a pencil Darth Vader.

Sooo - I hear there's now a binder available in the UK - one for ROTS and one for SW: Heritage .... I also hear they're pretty I'll be looking for them and I have some binders I could trade, or other pretty cards !! Finally Topps is getting their act together (though surely I know its more a certain UK Distributor rather than Topps per se..) |

I saw both those binders tonight ... they are nice! I'll wait a couple of weeks till they appear on eBay as I don't particularly want to pay the prices for them I've seen on a certain online website and I'll be wanting one of each. |
