a dilema-advice needed!

Ok guys. I need advice.

I have a beautiful LOTR symphony poster signed by Howard Shore, Alan Lee and Sissel (soloist). The autographs are personalised to me.
I really want to get it framed but have to have it done custom since it's not a standard size. I have two options
1) archival, special mounting: this means the glass doesn't touch the poster and the poster isn't glued down. This way it can appreciate in value and could be sold
2) block mounting--the poster would be stuck down so I guess it wouldnt' appreciate in value and I'd have to sell it framed.
Option two sounds a lot better (I did this for another, larger signed one) but costs a lot more. It would be between US $113-128!
 
Block mounting would only be $31.

I really don't even have the money (no job!) to even frame it but don't want it to keep sitting in a poster tube. I'm not sure when I'd have that kind of money to frame a poster in the near future. I'm not planning on ever selling it, it's a personal momento of the concert and the amazing trip I had there. But still, the first option is the "better" option...

 


So, given all this, which option should I choose? Which would you choose in my position?

Ive had posters framed without being glued down.  They put the poster of the backing board, and it is held in place by a matting frame, with the glass over the top. Because they are not glued the posters wrinkle slightly when hung (due to gravity) but I figure they will last longer in the long run....hope this helps...

I have gone both ways in framing.  It boils down to what you really want to do with the poster.  You said that you would not sell it so I would go with dry mounting the poster and having acid free matting which keeps the glass off the poster.  The poster will not wrinkle or distort and you will have a very nice display piece for quite a bit of money less than what you would spend on archival framing.  I use archival framing exclusively on limited edition aviation prints that are signed by the artist and people depicted in the print with some of them being valued over $5,000 now due to who they were in avaition history.  Hope this helps.

Good advice.
I'm going to go with the cheaper option. I doubt the poster would ever be worth enough to justify the cost of the more expensive option. And all I really care about is getting it up on my wall.
