Does anyone else watch this show on Fox?  I watched it, and although it was slow in the beginning, it really started to pick up and keep me on the edge of my seat.  Now, Fox removed it from their website and I hear it was cancelled.  There is a petition to sign to bring it back, as the season had only 5 episodes left to go.  Here is the petition if anyone is interested:

I never watched that show (True Calling) actually, and I don't think I will after they cancelled PP.  I am very upset over this.  Being from New jersey (which is where Point Pleasant is) and actually being there just this past weekend, I was in love with the show!!!  I think they should at least play out the last 5 episodes, or put them on the PC for the fans to see how the show ends.  don't you?

I try not to get too attached to any show these days. It's a trend that networks are cancelling or ending shows left and right. It's pretty pathetic.

Fox is especially noted for these tactics! While I can't name them, here are two off the top of my head Dark Angel and Wonderfalls.

I think Wonderfalls is one i liked too!!!!!  I forgot about that one.  ABC tends to do this too with some shows.  It really frustrates me.

Are they really bringing back Tru Calling!!!???!!!

I liked the first season but loved the second when they brought in the evil leaper (OK I know he wasn't a leaper and that was Quantum Leap but you know what I mean Wink)  I hope they do keep the Jason Priestley character.

You are right about Dark Angel.  They scrapped that just as it was getting good.  Same with Angel and Serenity.

I think they are putting it back on the air.  It says 2 hour season premiere.  Here is the site:

Ok I am totally confused now. Huh  Have we seen these in the UK?  I actually thought the series ended with a propper finale.

Are these ones they cut out in between or ones that follow on?

We've had season one over here on Sky, but in the US Fox originally ordered a 13 episode second season, but got cold feet and cut it to six. The six upcoming episodes are season two. I don't know when or if we'll get to see them over here! Sad
Hope this makes sense!!

Yes that does make sense thank you. Smiley

I think I must be getting puddled in my old age because I thought we had had more than one season.  Wow, they really packed a lot into the first series didn't they?

i wonder why they are bringing it back if they don't plan to keep it around.  They must be planning more episodes, unless they just needed something to replace Point Pleasant.

Well, if you need to recap, the first season is released on dvd on May 9th!! Smiley

I think at this stage it's just a replacement, but hopefully it will get picked up again. Smiley

Seriously though, how many "cult" TV shows can survive each year anyway?  I think the bubble has burst, there's too many of them and they don't seem to have quite the same hooks that you found in Buffy, STNG, X-Files.  Now there's a show that outstayed it's welcome.  Dark Skies was a great show that got cancelled.  And I'm amazed Stargate has lasted this long.  I'm not surprised about Enterprise though, Star Trek needs a long rest.

See, I disagree.  I think we need more shows like these, and less reality.

I agree with "less reality" but if cult TV is to survive it needs some innovation.  I liked The 4400 because it did something different - returning the abductees but hinting at some long term plan that they have been given special abilities for - sinister or otherwise.  You see Smallville is beginning to wear a little thin.  The whole "freak of the week" is boring whereas the mythology episodes are genuinely intriguing and watchable.  It's a pity they can't make more of them but I guess they'd have no show if they blew the background material in one season!

Crap, I was watching Point Pleasant.  I usually try to stay away from these type of shows just for that reason.

Did anyone ever watch the show Glory (i think it was on WB a few years back, 3 yrs I think) and they just stopped about 10 episodes in.   I thought it was a great show and starred that guy from friends (Tad rachels assistant) and the girl who I think is in CSI now) I think her name is Poppy Montgomery.  Anyway I thought it was a great show.  Also they screwed up with Grounded for Life which was hilarious.
