NSU has partially updated its site with info about the April/May issue.  There are two HP-related stories:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
It’s back to the beginning for Artbox’s legions of Potterheads.

Alchemy at Artbox
Mike Maltzman brings focus to Artbox’s hocus-pocus.

I could be wrong but this title sounds like it could be about the Japanese cards they are translating about the Cartoon epic Full Metal Alchemist to me

You may be right.  The Artbox website has this little blurb on the homepage from August:

8/06/04: Artbox Entertainment is proud to announce new license, Universal Monsters/Full Metal Alchemist. More details soon!

I saw "hocus-pocus" and automatically thought they meant HP! Smiley  As Emily Litella would say, "Never mind."

Anna, I knew you'd be one of the few people here who would understand the reference! Smiley  Did you catch the SNL retrospective about a month ago?

Yes I saw it.  It brought back many fond memories of the show with the original cast. Grin

I ordered a single copy a while back and it arrived in a week or so, which is about right. I think the delays are more to do with subscription copies. If id known i wouldnt have subscribed..... Grin

In the film/tv section you can see a picture Artbox have kindly sent us  of the box for the Full Metal Alchemist cards. No real other details but I think it's a retail release anyway - no real chase except foils or whatever.

Am still looking forward to it - FMA is awesome though I wish some of my friends could stop revealing later plot twists to me inadvertently

I ordered this magazine through a local comic book shop, and they said that I was able to pick it up today. They'll be closing in less than 30 mins so I won't be able to make it today, but I'll have it tomorrow!

Anyone else got there's, yet?

First, Roz, this site is the best I've ever seen.
I want to let everyone know how nice it is to be associated with civilized (or civilised) people.
It's great to not have to read a bunch of whinning and of topic jibberish. (Listen to me Grin)

Back to the topic:

I subscribed to NSU online for a year on Friday last. Monday I got my first magazine in my mail box.   Shocked I guess they mail the first one out 1st Class mail.   Cheesy Anyway it's a great mag, in my opinion. No, I don't work for them.
I can see why so many people are card collectors. Some of the other sets. like LOTR, Star Wars, Stargate, etc,  look great. (I gotta stop looking at  'em!)

Anyway, bottom line, I recommend the mag, at least a trial issue. Hey, and a years  subscription is cheaper than a coffee shop cuppa a week would cost.

How much is a year subscription?  It just seems weird to me to sibscribe since my husband works for a Magazine distributor (but this Mag doesn't go thru them).  I plan to pick up my copy at the Philly show for now.

Is it big enough to go through a massive distributor? It doesn't seem to have any marks on of the big distributors, and it seems to be available worldwide only through Borders, Forbidden planet and a series of very enthusiastic cinema memorabilia stores.

Yeah notice how it's 3x as much for an international subscription? - it's NOT a heavy magazine!

I would assume it is big enough for a big distributor.  I now own a copy of the Charmed magazine that just came out (they also have Buffy, Stargate and Alias).  All of these go through my husbands company.  You would be surprised what kind of magazines go through that office, or the amount that are in my home.
