I recently received the San Diego Comic Con set (binder, tin, holofoil base set and promos).  I was going through the cards this morning and noticed something odd about one of the promos.

It's promo #04 for the first set, the one with Hermione, Harry and Ron outside of Hagrid's hut.  On the bottom right are the words "In theaters Summer 2004."  On all of the other promos, the words are in white.  But promo #04 has the words in light brown.  Is this the same for other Comic Con sets?

On my set, they're all in white letters.   I don't know why your #04 is light brown Huh

I scanned the card and another promo, for comparison.

That's really weird!  The only thing I can think of is that on an additional pass of black ink along the bottom edge, the ink somehow smeared over the white lettering.  Black doesn't always completely cover uniformly in a first pass so occasonally it has to be re-done.  Imperfections show up more obviously when using black ink, so maybe Artbox's standard printing process uses multiple applications of black along the bottom edge.

I would consider this a defect card.  You should contact Artbox about a replacement.

A defect or rarer card?  I think it is neat actually.

Yeah if those mal cut cards were "collectable" this certainly is.

I'll have a look when I get home and check mine are 'normal' but it's a fun thing even if strictly it's a defect.

My cards are both with white letters. I think, you have a variant.  Grin

Keep it. If you change it all you will have is an ordinary card. Wink
