Did you follow a link and give over any details. No matter what I think you should contant them imediately. Although this does sound very much like the spoof emails I have had. Although I immediately changed my password when I realised and didn't had any credit card numbers over.

But email them put them on the case.

I searched the site and couldn't find a phone number anywhere.  It only has the e-mail link under Customer Support.

Someone hacked into my account over a year ago, and I was able to have a live, online chat with customer service to resolve the problem.  I can't find that function now, so maybe eBay got rid of it.  You might have to contact them by email, starting at this eBay link:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_inline/account_info.html

Good luck, popple!  The only good thing to come out of it for me was that the person using my account to sell laptops was given a credit for the auctions that eBay closed, but he wasn't able to get the money because I had already taken back control of my account.  I listed a good many auctions and didn't have to pay listing and final value fees for a long time! If you have msn messenger passport sign in you should be able to get in to your account that way. I would also change your paypal password if you have it to make sure that your money is safe!! Good luck

Thank goodness it's sorted for you Popple!  Grin

Excellent advice for all of us should we be unlucky enough to have this happen to our accounts (which I hope it never does!)  Shocked Wink

I think everyone should have msn passport that way you have a backdoor into your ebay account and can fixed problems before the hackers can do any real damage.

How does the passport help? I already have one as I have an MSN account, but don't really understand. Actually it probably wouldn't help as my ebay account uses a different email account as I didn't want to give them my credit card details.

you can using it to sign into ebay with it .  or you just sign in to ebay the normal way so if a hackers has gotten into your account through normal channels then you just sign in through your passport and change everything back .
I had my account hacked and this was how i got back into my account and changed everything

I didn't know about MSN passport, either.  That is a great tip!  When my account was hacked, eBay live help reset everything for me, and then I had to go back in and change the password a second time.  Now, my eBay, PayPal, and email accounts all have different passwords.

I do like that eBay now has its own message center that you access through My eBay.  At least those messages are legit.
