I would love to know what you have up for prizes.  This is getting very exciting.

Right now I'm looking at putting together between 45 and 50 different raffle packages - to give everyone a decent shot at winning something. The way I originally had it set up, there would be 45 winners - but that's such an odd number, I figure I can squeeze in 5 more between the two days.

The first drawing will be held at opening on Friday - this is just to give a little extra luck to everyone that pre-ordered tickets See... I told you it would help to order early!  and the last drawing will probably be around 2 or 3 on Saturday (it's going to be a long day for my boys - we'll see exactly how long they last on Sat.!)

Some of the prize lots will be quite simple. A sealed box of Angel Season 5 for example. Others will be two or three smaller things (when I say small, I mean in size, not value - so two or three costume cards, or an auto and a costume...) put together that make sense to me May not make sense to anyone else though... I tend to be eclectic on a good day!!

PLUS to add chaos to my life Some dealers, etc. are bringing their contributions of prizes to the show! So I'm not even entirely sure what I'll have - some have told me, others have kept quiet ...

I'm disappointed.  I thought you would have received more entries.  Maybe a lot of people are planning to buy tickets at the show.

For those of us who bought tickets, the odds are pretty good of winning something!  If a winner wanted to pay the cost of shipping so that more money goes to charity, how would that be done?

I'm probably going to send out emails congratulating people on their wins. However, let me state unequivocably that the money for postage, envelopes, etc is coming from my pocket and not the charity. It's my own way of contributing.

So, I am wondering if you have the chance to win more than one thing or not.

That answer is a bit tricky. I want as many different people to win as possible, so if I pull the same name twice in a row, I'll probably throw one back in, but it is feasible that you would win at two different times. For example, I pull Sara's ticket at the 10am drawing, then I draw it again at the same 10am drawing - I'd likely toss the second one back in.

But, if I drew Boggle's ticket at 2pm on Friday and then again at 4 pm on Saturday, I'd let it go.

I know it doesn't seem quite right, but in my mind it seems more fair. What are your thoughts? Do you think it's fair, or am I deluding myself

This may not be popular, but please bear with me.

When I first read your post, I thought that your method was perfect.  Those with multiple entries would have extra chances to win an item and everyone would have a good chance at winning something.  I bought only one ticket, so it definitely increases the odds that I could win.

But, the more I thought about it, the less fair it seemed.  If someone bought four tickets, they paid for the opportunity to win four items.  The way you want to handle the raffle means that if a multiple ticket holder wins an item, you're basically removing from the raffle the other tickets they bought.

I know this is for charity, but since the method of choosing winners wasn't disclosed when people were ordering, it could cause a problem for you if someone objects.

Maybe I'm not being clear (it happens a lot). Let me use more generic situation.

Raffles are at 12, 2, 4, and 6.

During the 12 o'clock raffle, I draw 5 names: John, Tim, Scott, Mary and Mary (again!). I put the duplicate Mary back and draw a new name - Sarah. 5 winners.

During the 2 o'clock raffle, I draw 5 names : Harry, Larry, Jerry, Terry and Mary (same Mary from 12 o'clock) - but since this is a different raffle, she's fine.

So, Mary still wins 2 raffles, and all the rest each win one. I just don't have Mary winning 2 of the same prize lot.

So let me ask something else to make sure I get this.  At the 12 'clock raffle say, you draw 5 names: Terri, Jerry, Cindy, Mike and Tom.  Do those raffle tickets now get tossed, or put back in for another oppurtunity to win at the 2 o'clock raffle?

Winning tickets can't win again. I need the ticket to be able to send out the prize That's like double-dipping - ewww...

This shows the advantage of buying more than one ticket.  If someone wins from one prize lot, the extra tickets will give them chances with the other prize lots.
