If you look at the purchases, someone bought 2 already!!! I would love to do it if I knew I would be guaranteed to get ones I don't already have, like Lupin.........

To be fair I think I'd pay $20 for 20 Lupins but I somehow think there's a catch beyond that... all very suspicious

We've seen this type of auction before, but from a different seller. The seller for this auction had other auctions for the first set where you'd get unopened packs and an insert that was specified in the listing.
Anyone bidding is taking a chance. There's just no way to guarantee that the seller really has included lower print run cards.

For $20, you could get a Lupin jacket (one recently sold for less than $4.00) or you could get a Hermione pink sweater. That is, if the sweater is even one of the cards in a sealed envelope. Even if all of the cards in the picture are available, there are many that aren't worth $20 apiece.

These auctions are very good I think but only if one very important factor is included:
This is that all lots are up for auction at once.
By auctioning off 20 of the 50 [if we believe] it is a lot harder for the people winning the auctions to keep in touch with one another and find out what they each received.Lets be serious here - If all the lots were included in this auction it would be very easy to find out who got what and if any of the high end cards ever made it out.
In my opinion this is a con and all auctions like this one always are unless all lots are in the same auction- thus allowing 1 person to buy them all and really find out what he/she was selling!

I was just looking at his feedback and found this that the person left good feedback. He has 31 cards shown, so the 20 he is not showing are all Lupin's  Maybe someone can email that buyer to see what they got. You know what, I will do it, but I am heading home from work soon and might not get a response until tomorrow for everyone. |

Off to write to the buyer again. I accidentally wrote the seller, but he did respond and it seems like the two "inserts" sent with the two base sets for $46 were only foil cards. Here is is response, and he/she does seem like a really nice person though. What do you think (although for $46 for base sets, I think a nicer insert could have been included)?
Hello! I am the seller. You must have sent me an E-mail by accident. But anyway thats fine. I sold 2 of those sets and the inserts that came with the sets as stated were either a box card which came with one per box or one of the holgram type cards 1 per 8 packs more or less. I think that the 2 sets shipped out had the hologram type cards in both sets. Have a great day!

And the buyer wrote me back and said this...so I don't know what to think:
I believe I got prop cards. I'm not sure, but it could have been sleeping bag or part of cloth from trelawney's table or it was Weasley's quidditch uniform.- it would be great to get an autograph, but it's a grab bag, so one never knows. I might buy one again.

The auction listing, the response from the seller, the response from a buyer -- it all sounds a little too strange to me. I wouldn't be too happy spending $20 plus shipping and getting a sleeping bag.

I wouldn't touch this one, the chances of actually getting a good card from it are virtually zero, and you've got no comeback whatsoever. Of course, i may be doing the seller a great disservice here, but i doubt it....  |
