Wow that is an outrageous price but it just goes to show you that there is always someone out there with either no brains or too much cash in their hands!

Do you think the price is too high? I have no idea which price the card had in the past. But i'm interested in this one.

I remember seeing this card for sale on ebay when it came out in the range of $45 to $70 dollars. I picked mine up for $45. I think you have to balance off wants and desires to what cards are really worth. If you really want that card and have the cash then go for it. On a seperate note is the availability of cards. I have started seeing entire collections of Topps LOTR's cards coming onto ebay just as I thought I would as the craze and phenemonon of the LOTR's is passing.
It just might be that this card you are looking for will become available at a lower price at some point in the future. Again it all boils down to wants and desires. Good luck Tower with your search.

Well the last one I remember seeing went for £160 but it was exceptional. It used to go for around £120 but I am still shocked at how high this is so early in the auction... I had best chase MPC for those images and get a price guide going for this... actually I can do TTU myself Also guys, (Jas will certainly know the answer to this) is this a variant strictly speaking? Because of the gold thread. I remember discussing with Jas various things he'd seen and he had a pic of one with a FLOWER in it - I think that went well over £200. But are they normally plain? Jas had about 5 of these at one time so maybe he'll be able to enlighten us

Hi Roz:
I would not call this one a variant as the material presented is part of the costume just the same as the other pieces used. So what if it has a gold thread or flower or whatever it is still all part of the same piece of material used for the costume. I would not pay any extra for anything like that. You could take this to the extreme if you want to by looking at LOTR's Autographed cards. You could place more value on someones autograph just because it is centered on the card or more legible or because it is in black sharpie rather than blue. I mean you can go on and on. I guess some people need justification to rationalize spending what they do on things.

Yep - there's no dobt about it Ed ... we card collectors are crazy Well - I agree - I don't think I'd pay more for an TT Legolas with a heart or kiss on ir or anything - I am not quite *that* crazy... boy I wish I had picked up a TTU Arwen when they were that price I don't even remember that but Mark and I got into this "game" just around the time TTU came out so we were a bit slow on the uptake

The question is, will there be better prices in the next future? If i understand Roz right, she doesn't think so. Hmmm. Let's see what happens in the next days ...

that price is about right, when I had all of mine I had them from plain to silver only or gold only to both to some with some cool designes, and i think the most one sold for was about almost 300, the one with the flower was up well over 200 GBP it was insane but these have been around 200 for a while ( well atleast since i started finding them and selling them. That one in the link is a pretty nice one comapred to some I have seen, Let me see if I still have pics of all the ones I had. the more I think about it the more I remember that name, he is either a board member or a topps member, I am sure of it

Oh yeah... Topps I think Jas. Tower - it's very difficult to know - but they are coming on so rarely these days, I haven't seen one for ages so if they continue only to trickle this slowly I think they will remain very high... as LOTR is too much of a classic not to be well thought of in the future. However, if someone suddenly announces they have 12 and they'll be selling one a week for 12 weeks you might be in luck

I think, if the price doesn't rise much higher, i will try to get the card. I hope, you all wish me good luck and overbid me only, if you really must have this card (and i know very good, this happens sometimes, so it would be no problem).

Hee hee - I think Anna is the only big new LOTR buyer around here at the moment, all the others are old timers but I am sure she'll be nice

Anna especially is allowed to overbid me anytime, she knows why. But of course not only her. It's part of the game in my opinion.

You don't have to worry about me bidding against you Tower. I'll just stick with the Trilogy set. It would cost me waaaaay too much money to start this set now!

But to be true, i guess, the card will rise a little bit to high for me. I don't know my limit yet (depends on other things) and for the moment there is still a little space. But it's really not a good sign, that the price has risen high so early. :'(

That card hasn't finished rising yet IMHO. It's one of the nicer swatches I've seen and I do recall the auction with the flower pattern too ~ that card was a beaut! I reckon it will fetch around £160 (maybe more) and don't worry Tower, I won't be bidding against you as I have two of these already! It's a very hard card to get and if you're serious about collecting the costumes, then I would try and get this one if you can. The TTU Aragorn is another hard one to track down too and has sold for silly amounts of money .... not too sure why either as it's a fairly boring piece of material. I could go on ... Frodo's Nightshirt, Arwen Riding Coat, Bilbo's Waistcoat, Saruman's Overtunic ... all lovely cards, but not that easy to track down. Good Luck Tower ... be prepared to be parted from large amounts of money over these cards!

I thank my lucky stars that I do not collect costumes - but Arwen's Requiem has always gone for quite a bit (apart from the initial release market flood) - $150+ so at the moment, I think it is sitting on a pretty average price

When I was first collection LOTR costume cards, they all went for more expensive prices than what they are now, but I think that they will go up in the future, especially the FOTR and TT as they are getting harder and harder to find. People will be content with their collection and may not want to sell so there may be a lack of cards in the market in the future. I would love the Arwen Cloak, that is always the one that I have really wanted, but when I was collecting them, it was fetching $250!! Good luck tower, I think now is the best time to collect LOTR and compared to past prices, the arwen is now pretty cheap!
