Welllllll...the seller did overreact a bit! I don't know how you should handle it. Maybe send him an email now thanking him. When you receive the card Tuesday and are sure that everything's in order, then you could consider sending him some money to offset the shipping. You're certainly not obligated to do so, and it shouldn't cost you more money because he made a mistake, but if it would make you feel better then you should do it.
I think he's as worried as you about getting a negative!

Roz ... someone's gotta feed you the lines!   Well I've slept on it and I still don't know what the heck to say! I've already paid $8 for shipping and the card itself IMHO isn't exactly cheap (even if it is lovely!) ... so I'll wait and see what happens once I receive it and take it from there. I will email him to thank him for what he's done today and to let him know that I'll contact him again next week. It's very rare I give negative feedbacks, I tend more towards leaving neutrals if things haven't gone too well. I was going to leave him a positive before he went and paid that awful amount to send it to me ... and here's me thinking I was over-reacting ~ don't know who's the drama queen now!! |

Wow. I bet you would have left him a positive even if he sent it airmail to you. I mean, he was honest and apologetic. This is a tough call. I would feel awful about the price he paid to send it and want to pay him some more, but like kbmum said, you are not obligated to do so at all. You did pay a good amount for the card, so you can figure the shipping was already paid in the price maybe. I would thank him, tell him he didn't have to do that, but you do appreciate it and you will let him know when it arrives. Sound good?

Well, that's BOTH of us happy, as mine was waiting for me when I got home from work this afternoon!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!  He sent it by UPS Express and I'm pleased to say the card was worth the wait and worry. It's a very pretty swatch (tiny gold sequins with tiny, gold and different coloured chain link stitching on pale lilac fabric background) and I'll try and scan it and post it on the variant thread for you. I don't know if I'll do a better job of it than the seller did, but I'll give it a go! Thanks for your help and advice ~ it's been much appreciated!  I've emailed the seller to let him know it's arrived safely and to thank him for the time, effort and expense to ensure it arrived so quickly after the initial delay, and I'm going to leave it at that. I paid enough for the card already, as well as the $8 shipping, so I reckon we'll be quits once I've left him his positive!  Well, that's one down and one still to go! |

Just emailed my seller, she was very quick to reply and sent me a tracking number but unfortunately its one of those 'informative' Royal Mail ones where they say that they have passed the item to an overseas postal service to handle - so it could be anywhere between the UK and Australia by now GREEEEEEEEEEAAAAT! I've only ever had one incident of a lost and refunded item - a ROTK binder from the UK - the seller was great, sent me a refund promptly and was generally very helpful - I left him a glowing positive FB for all his efforts  |

*Fingers crossed* for you now FTY!!  Binders have to be one of the worst things to send through the post. I had a Scorpion King binder sent to me in a jiffy mailer and I wasn't too worried, till I noticed the envelope had been damaged as though the binder had been dragged along a hard surface and worn away. Sure enough, when I opened it the binder was damaged on the corresponding corner!  The seller was lovely ... he had to get another one for me from goodness knows where as it took an age for him to receive it (probably from the US). I offered to send the damaged one back if he needed it to show to the post office so he could make a claim for damages, but he said to keep it and was happy with the pix I took of it and sent to him instead I've still got the binder .... gathering dust .... a shame too as it's rather nice! |

Let's see...On Jan 26, you noted it had been two weeks and counting for your card. So tomorrow will be 3 weeks. It took exactly 3 weeks for my card to arrive to me from the UK to the US. I did see it at my mail website when it was finally at my local post office, however I am not sure how they enter tracking numbers in Australia. I was told in the US that they will only scan that number when they attempt to deliver it, yet when I finally saw it, it was at the main post office near me and had not yet been attempted to be delivered.
I know that telling you it is still coming is hard for you to believe (as it was hard for me to believe when everyone told me to be patient), but after what happened with me, I strongly believe that the mail has been really slow lately and it IS coming.
Funny thing is that Roz sent me something regular airmail and it got to me in about 4-5 days. Yet the registered mail took 3 weeks. Please keep us all posted on your item, and keep checking that tracking number with your local office.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! As it was registered under Royal Mail in the UK, Australia Post (our postal system) cannot track it. I just have to wait for the slip of red and white paper. rns, funnily I had something sent registered (exactly the same as this) from the UK the week before and it arrived within a week!  I would not be so worried if I was not moving in 3 days... guess I will have to get my flatmates to keep in contact which will be annoying for both of us Day 1 FTY: Is it here? Flatmates: no Day 2 FTY: Has it arrived? Flatmates: no Day 3 FTY: Did you check the mail yet? Flatmates: *collective sigh* no, nothing for you Jo Day 4 FTY: Any mail for me? Flatmates: ............ |

Are you moving far? And sorry for being naive, but are flatmates like roomates? So in other words, there will still be people living there to check the mail for you. Otherwise, i would do a change of address with your local post office so mail goes to your enw address. Of course, that would just delay it even more. I think it will be here by the end of the week though  |

I think flatmates are people who share the flat with her ... as in they share the expenses between them .... have their own sleeping quarters but share the kitchen and bathing/ toiletting facilities ... well they're supposed to! It seems daft that registered post takes soooo much longer ... you would think it ought to be quicker wouldn't you?! Good luck with the move and I hope everything stays intact!
