There are bad sellers on eBay, but the majority of transactions go through with no problems.  I've been a member of eBay since 1997.  I've never not received an item and I've had only one bad buyer.  Of course, I've probably just jinxed myself. Roll Eyes

The point is, you shouldn't be afraid to use eBay.  You just need to be cautious, and you can ask here about any seller before bidding.  If someone is going to cheat you, they're going to want as much money as possible. It's certainly easier to cheat one person out of $1,500 than dozens of people for lesser amounts.  Hopefully for mclarkey, the credit card company will come through and get back the rest of the money.

I agree, if it was not for Ebay, I would not even have my collection. Like kbmum said, you just have to be careful and ask for advice. After you have been there for a while, you get to know pretty well when a seller/buyer is dodgy, who is good to buy from etc. Experience is the key Smiley

I am like Ferdinand I wouldn't have my collection of cards if it was not for ebay.

It just takes a little time to get used to ebay . I have had items not turn up but it has always been sorted out very quickly.

And as she said you can always ask here about a seller

I have one bad experience I could share..... maybe it will help you out too.

I got the wrong item from a UK seller. I left feedback for the seller and also filed with Square Trade. They helped us through the ordeal. And I got my $$$$$ back and he had my feedback lifted....  but that was the deal. It was a substantial amount too. I did contact the credit card too. I don't see how you can't get your full amount back especially if you paid for insurance. If the seller put a lesser amount for insurance then I would go after the seller. He needs to give you a refund. I would definitely contact the credit card company for fraud..... you have up to 3 months from the date you paid but I wouldnt wait that long.

The seller might have sent it to a friend of his and shows it was mailed out.....  Tongue

I do hope you get all your money back...  Huh and don't give up pursuing the seller.

What a total bummer!! Embarrassed
That is just SO wrong for him to be re-instated and you left with nothing at all ... completely outrageous! Angry

Nice bit of neg feedback you left for him and I'd say he'd earned every word of it!! Wink
*Fingers crossed* your credit card company refunds your payment asap.

Hi again

Heres the final outcome of the rip off merchant from ebay.  Paypal did manage to refund me $1000.  The ebay seller WEMISSE did not reply to my emails  Evil.  I am still $562 short of the $1562 I origionally paid for the FOTR MERRY AUTO (and yes you've guessed it "still no card").  Angry WEMISSE seams to still be on ebay so ALL BE WARNED  Angry. My credit card company CANNOT get me the money back so that route was a waist of time as it seams the seller does not return emails to PAYPAL or to CREDIT CARD companys.

I'm very angry that this could happen, as to save up for an auto to finish my set took so long and then to go through all the pain and lies to later find there is not really an auto for sale and it was all a SCAM, and the fact that ebay or any one else can do something about it.  And the fact that the seller can still be on ebay makes me really sad.  I suppose the seller WEMISSE is having a good old laugh  ROFL! And I can just pray that this sort of thing does not happen to anyone else Praying

I don't suppose I will ever finish my set now  :'(

If he is still active on Ebay, wouldn't they have a Paypal account that they could retrieve money from? I was in the same situation with a much less expensive card, but same deal - refunded some of the money and Paypal tried to get the rest (but failed as they had closed their account after their scam). I managed to get my seller kicked off Ebay... wonder why they seem so reticent about doing the same for your rip off artist given the amount of money you lost Hopping Mad
