Hi
is there anyone out there who can help.  Well I finally saved up enough money to finish my FOTR collection the last card being of course 'MERRY' of which I won as higgest bidder on EBAY.   I paid through paypal over 5 weeks ago to the seller in USA and have still not received the card.
Paypal protection has given me $1000 back but I am still $531 owed and have no other way of raising the money of wich I still have to pay for the card on my visa which I have not even received.  The item was insured but not for the amout I requested.  They traced the item and it could not be found and the seller is now not replying to emails (for past 3 weeks)

Can anyone help as I have no idea what to do next?

Thanks to the price guide I've dug out your auction!

Smiley I hope you don't mind

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3857499380

The odd thing is how much great feedback the seller has - have they just stopped emailing?

Have you tried ebay themselves for the final $500 because they are supposed to protect you for everything but about $25  Undecided

Any ideas guys?

I agree with Roz. Ebay should pay you the 475$ (buyer protection - 25$)

So sent a mail to Ebay. Good Luck  Wink

Have you got his contact information (phone number) through eBay yet?
Or perhaps his email filter is blocking your emails? I sincerely hope he's not the one blocking them ...  Undecided
Have you contacted any of his other buyers through eBay to see if they had any problems emailing him?

I don't know how helpful eBay will be if you've already had a refund from PayPal, but I do think you'll have to contact your credit card company as well to see if you can get a refund on the balance from them.

That's horrible to finally win the card which finishes your set and then not receive it! Embarrassed

Good Luck and please let us know how you get on won't you? Wink

Did you get your card yet?

I won a Marauders Map a few weeks ago and it was shipped from the UK to the US on January 7.  I have not yet received it.  However, my seller told me thayt he got two items from the US, one was shipped 12/17 and the other 12/22.  They both just arrived to him today.  I think mail may be held up a bit.  I am praying mine still shows up, as like you, it is a card i really want, just didn't cost as much.  However, it was the most money I ever spent on a card which is why i think I am suddenly so concerned.

Hi, sorry to hear you had trouble also.  The answer to the question is NO.......... Still not received item or had any email from seller.  Paypal did refund me some but not the full amount so if you paid through them that is one option you are covered by up to $1000.  I have contacted ebay and reported the incident and am in the process of having my credit card company look into the matter. It does look now (nearly 7 weeks later) that I have been robbed of my money.  Rest assured if the matter is not sorted the seller will not be dealing with ebay or paypal again.  There is still hope Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Leaving negative feedback on ebay is a good option also

I paid for insurance with my card, so if it doesn't come, I will be able to get a refund.  And my seller has been wonderful responding to my email concerns.  I will keep you posted, please do the same.

I would not have hesitated to contact your Credit Card Company as soon as the problem raised its ugly head.  You yourself said that PayPal only covered you up to $1000 and that the card was underinsured.  Why was this and whose decision was that?  Anyway contact with your Credit Card Company would have been your best bet to have the charge taken off.  I had two large purchases I made on ebay and paid via PayPal.  The Sellers were in the U.K. and I never received my items.  I had read many threads on how bad PayPal and ebay were in helping people recover their money so I did not take a chance on them and went directly to my Credit Card Companies - Mastercard and American Express.  The Customer Service Reps had many dealings with both PayPal and ebay and handled my complaints directly with them both and I did not have to do anything.  I received full credit from my Credit Card Companies and did not lose a cent.  I wish you well and hope you recover your money and that the Seller you dealt with gets nailed.

Now why did you have to say that you had two items that never came?  Make me more worried about the one that I am waiting for Wink if you don't mind my asking, what were they?

But seriously now, what if you use PayPal and the funds come out of your checking account?  As I do not have mine set up to go to my credit card.

Good question - I do not know the answer to that one as I only pay for auctions with my credit cards.  The items I purchased from the two U.K. Sellers were matted and framed film cells from the 3 LOTR's movies.  I had won 6 auctions for film cells of Aragorn and Gandalf that were beautifully matted , framed and had engraved nameplates.  The total dollar value of the 6 pieces was a bit over $300.00.

If you paid via PayPal with your checking account, the only recourse you have is with PayPal.  The best thing to do, if possible, is resolve the issue with the seller.  You'll get back more money that way than if PayPal becomes involved.

Although, RNS, now that your card is in New Jersey, it's not an issue for you anymore! Cheesy

You are very right!!  Thankfully, the card is on its way according to the tracking number.  I have never been so worried before.

Hi
No Merry card has been received yet, I have entered tracking number into US Postal service tracking site and to my disbelief it came up that the number I entered had not been purchased so therefore the parcel was never sent insurred or sent at all.  The seller has emailed me but since I informed him of this no emails have been received.  I now strongly feel that I have been ripped off and have lost confidence in purchasing items of large sums of money.

My credit card company is sorting it out now and I have been informed that the ebay member in question's paypal and ebay accounts are frozen.

I pray that I get my money back but at the moment, who knows?HuhHuh??

Yep - ebay is a big empty place when it comes to trying to get money back.

The problem is of course that between us (the forum) we don't have a pile of Merry's to share, sell and trade so we have to branch out into the unknown but where possible it just goes to show how important it is to stick to folk we know

Oh NO!! Shocked Shocked :'(

I wish you every success in getting all your money back through your credit card company, but I'm sure you would've preferred the card instead.
I don't know what else to say really, except it's a disgrace and I'm very sad the whole deal turned sour! Sad

Please keep us updated how it turns out and whether the credit card company are any help or not.

That card I paid for and hadn't received still hasn't arrived and I very much doubt it will either.
So it looks as though I've lost $60 on mine which is peanuts next to what's at stake with your transaction.

Good Luck! Wink

Well folks heres the latest :'(

Ebay WON'T refund any money as Paypal gave me $1000 which obviously is $531 short of the $1531 origionally paid for the FOTR MERRY AUTO.
Tried to leave NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, but as ebay has thrown WEMISSE off ebay I can't leave any (but at least the user cannot rip any one else off. Embarrassed

My credit card company is investigating and I should hear the final out come soon, but I feel I will not get any money back and still will have lost $531 from an ebay auction site I regarded as highly safe  Lips Sealed

I suppose the seller who ripped me off will come on again as a new user using a new identity, so here goes,to ALL EBAY USERS "BE WARNED" Angry Angry Angry

I do hope you manage to get the full amount once they've finished their investigations. Undecided

I don't know if you've seen it, but Gimli has a FOTR Merry up for auction at the moment ....
