guaranteed costume pack auction

It was just a matter of time:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=219&item=6138419478
If I'm not mistaken, this is from the retail box. The sealed retail box sells for less than the BIN, so this isn't a good deal.

lol good point!
As indeed are both cards that could be contained in the guaranteed pack ($24 on average for George and $27 for Harry! - well according to our trusty price guide anyway)

That is a ridiculous price!!! I hope people are smart and do not buy for that price.

Well someone bought it using the BIN!!! I hope they realize this is a retail pack and not a Hobby pack, but they probably don't.

Even if it was a Hobby pack, that's still a pretty steep price given what even the rarest pack inserted costume and prop cards are going for on ebay at the moment. Unless you pull an awesome variant.

It is steep, if you're a person who has been watching the auctions and knows the pricing (love Roz's Price Guide!). Maybe the buyer thought that $42.50 for a guaranteed costume was better than $60 for a box that could be a dud.
The seller's other auctions are all for guaranteed insert packs. I wouldn't want to buy any opened boxes from him!

The person who won this auction tends to do a lot of BIN's that are a little pricey. i think he/she just prefers to do that other than bidding. Although, I have been outbid many a time by this person as well.

The seller listed another auction for a guaranteed costume. Since I like being a pain in the backside, I sent him an email asking whether it was a hobby or a retail pack. His response:
I did not know there were variations. It says neither hobby or retail on the pack.
While it's technically true that there is nothing on the front of the packs that states hobby or retail, I'm a bit amazed that an established trading card seller wouldn't know that he ordered a retail box instead of a hobby box.

And according to the picture, they are retail. My husband and I saw them at Suncoast Video and he thought they were hobby, as they are very similar. The only difference is what they say on the little scroll on the front of the pack. The retails tell you to look for Chase and Costume cards, but mention nothing of an autograph.
