We finally got around to seeing it, when everyone else is watching The Incredibles... *sigh* We have to wait until the 26th for it to be released here
Anyway, I quite liked the movie - it was funny in parts, but overall I think my main impression was "cheesy". They just tried to hard to make it cool. What I liked about Nemo was that it didn't try to be anything apart from a good movie. It didin't appeal to me on the same level as, say, Monsters Inc because it didn't have so much of the comedy aspect but it was a lovely story and beatiful animation.
Shark Tale on the other hand was nicely animated but the detail wasn't up to the standard of Nemo. the made the characters look TOO much like the people doing their voices and they made too much of a big deal out of real world celebs... I mean, what was the point of Missy Elliot and Christina Aguilera fishes at the end, apart from another cheap attempt at trying to be cool?
Having said that about over-characterisation I did rather like the rastafarian jellyfishes
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie but just thought it wasnt't quite what I thought it could be...
What really interested me however was the trailers before the film. I'm sad to say it has happened - every single trailer was for a CG film. We had the Polar Express, The Incredibles, Robots (hadn't seen this before, but will be seeing the movie - anything with Robin Williams in has my vote) and lastly... possibly most promisingly... Madagascar. This film looks hilarious, and I don't know why but it really appeals to me. For those who haven't seen the trailer:
