This is an actual job application that a 17-year-old boy submitted at a McDonald's restaurant in Florida; and they hired him because he was so honest and funny!
NAME: Greg Bulmash.
SEX: Not yet. Still waiting for the right person.
DESIRED POSITION: Company's President or Vice President. But seriously, whatever's available. If I was in a position to be picky, I wouldn't be applying here in the first place.
DESIRED SALARY: $185,000 a year plus stock options and a Michael Ovitz style severance package. If that's not possible, make an offer and we can haggle.

SALARY: Less than I'm worth.

I know you folks in England have both McDonald's and Burger King. Do they offer a different menu I wonder from what we have here in America? I will bet you have some food items that are unique that are not served here.

Hope you don't mind me answering this as well In McDonalds here in Australia, we have a McOz burger that is served with beetroot. not sure what else it is done with as I almost never eat fast food And the salads plus items I guess would differ a bit. What do you guys have over there in this menu? |

We have a burger here called the Big Tasty which I know for a fact is a UK exclusive because they made a big thing of it in the ads.
As for the beetroot burger, I'm afraid the beetroot would end up in the same place as the gherkins do - the lid of the box!

Let me translate that for our American chums - I think a gherkin is a "pickle" in the US. I suggest that none of you ever have a McDonalds meal with Mark - he picks out the gherkin dangles it in front of me and says "would you ilke it"? It looks so unappealing... so I always say NO, I like the gherkin in the burger but dont' want to add them or wat them individually! |

It looks so unappealing... so I always say NO, I like the gherkin in the burger but dont' want to add them or wat them individually!
I don't mind the pickle/gherkin either but I don't take up the offers of 'spare' one either. They look plain unappetizing to me limp, pale green and covered in a mixture of tomato sauce and cheese. Ok, have I put you off them now? Do you guys still use boxes for your burgers? I thought it had all been changed topaper wrapping - unless you mean a happy meal box?  |

Ooh look at you you environmentally friendly nation you, no we still have those horrible polystyrene boxes. Good for you lot changing them, I hope they do that soon here! |

We got rid of those boxes quite some time ago and just use a paper product. It is interesting to hear what unique food is offered. Burger King here has a tie in to the new Spiderman 2 movie and has several items for the kids in their meals. The adults have a scratch off game. You either get a single or two scratch off's depending on the size drink and fries you order. It says to use your Spidey Sense to guess which web to rub off to reveal if you won or lost. Every game piece is a winner - you just have to guess which one it is! Prizes range from food items to PS2 Game systems, to cars, and cash. I have been having about a 75% winning percentage - unfortunately I have been uncovering only food prizes!
Do you folks overseas have these types of promotions at your Burger King's & McDonalds?

Ick - polystyrene boxes  And I thought you lot were civilised up north Just kidding  I can barely remember polystyrene boxes - they must have gotten rid of them at least 10 years ago. I remember hating the squeaky noise you heard when you opened the box. I thought it was a general global McD 'green' incentive, getting rid of those boxes and replacing them with paper wrapping, but I guess not. Do you have the nutritional values of the food printed on the wrapping now as we do here? Ed, McDonalds here recently had a promtion rather like a Monopoly game - with your meal you got a game piece (or pieces, depending on what you ordered) that made up a part of a picture of the prizes up for grabs. If you got all the pieces for a prize, you won that prize. Prizes included cars, PS2s, holidays, clothing vouchers, home entertainment set and of course the food vouchers. I don't eat at Burger Kings - though some of these chains are called Hungry Jacks for some reason |

Roz obviously hasn't been paying attention when we've been to Maccy D's! All the packaging has now changed to eco friendly stuff - paper for the little burgers and card boxes for the bigger ones, like Burger King. I don't think they have nutrition info on them, however, as I'm sure the fat content would stop people from eating there!!
We have all sorts of promos as well, although there is nothing running at the moment. We've had the Monopoly game at least twice since I can remember - I guess it proved quite popular! I think Burger King are currently running a special burger while Spidey 2 is on in the cinemas, but we tend not to go to BK as much as McD's, for two reasons: 1) Although I think the food is better quality and tastier than McD's, Roz doesn't, and 2) It's quite a bit more expensive! And bonus reason #3) There's no Ronald McDonald... booooo!

Because it works out alot cheaper . for example 2 whopper ( the adult burgers 2 junior burgers 4 fries and 4 coke is $12.95
to buy that at mac;s it would cost double that. and the toys at hungry jacks are better tooo

Did you guys have the big kerfuffle about that US documentary 'Supersize me'? It was mostly because of that they decided to put the nutritional info. There was a whole backlash at Maccas (our Aussie term for it!) about it, all these ads from the CEO and other big honchos about THAT movie - 'we don't supersize our meals', 'here's the nutritional values etc' thing. Quite a stir!

Yea we have had the Monopoly Game here at McDonald's and it is very popular.
That's interesting Mcgonagall about the price difference between the two Burger Chains. Here McDonald's is cheaper than Burger King but I agree with Mark and you that Burger King food tastes better. It is interesting that here in the United States just about everywhere you see a McDonald's you will find a Burger King sited very close by. Interesting competition between the two. Both places offer a Super Sized meal and no they do not put nutritional info on the wrappers. They do have a chart up on the wall telling you all the nutritional information in the various sized meals though. I did see the Supersize me documentary but I cannot see that it made any difference here.
