Luck aside, is it worth continuing to purchase POAU boxes (only if at a good price)?  I know the attraction is the potential (albeit minuscule) for pulling a Dan, Rupert, or Emma auto...or triple.  I have two theories:

1.  Don't be stupid--odds are not on my side and the past bunch only had one insert card (is this common?)  Tongue

2.  Life's too darn short--if you love it, stick with it.   Smiley

Any opinions?

It depends how many inserts you have from the set and how much the boxes cost.  If you're close to a master set, it won't be worth buying more boxes unless you have lots of extra money burning a hole in your pocket.

I say, boxes are meant to be opened! Not left sitting on a shelf to rot Sad But, I also agree that if you're only looking for 1 or 2 cards, opening the box, unless it's REALLY cheap isn't the best method of obtaining that card.

I'm sort of with Cindy on this one.  The box prices are now coming down to silly money and Graham has bought me quite a few but to be truthful I have been lucky to get anything in them.  I didn't even get a Lupin jacket or a sleeping bag  ROFL!  Seriously out of the last 5 or 6 boxes I have opened the only card worth anything was a dual Weasley and I already had that.  Two or three boxes only had foils and I think I had one box that didn't even have those  Undecided  But as you say the chance of a triple.......  Praying

As someone who opened a rediculous amount of boxes of POAU and forgot how much I hated these boxes buying a couple cases a few months back at a great price, the sucked.  I didn't even get enough good cards in each case to recoup half my money.  One case didn't even have ANY autos in it.  The other only had Stan Shunpike and Warwick Davis which I already have lots of.  It sucked and I regretted it.  There are too many other good sets out there to spend your money on.  Instead of 2 or 3 boxes of POAU get a box of MM or GOFU I think your chances of a happy ending are much better.

POAU SUCKS NEVER FORGET, that is my new Motto.

 ROFL! ROFL! ROFL!
Does that mean no more POAU for you, Dave?  ROFL! Wink

Seriously! I have to agree with Dave!! Out of all HP sets, this one was my least favorite!! Buy what cards you want off of  Ebay!.

Jackie, was this your list favorite because of the print run or the cards?  I honestly think it had some great cards in the set like the Map, the dual Weasly, Buckbeaks feather, etc.

I agree,

Worst set on print run, best set on cards produced!

For me who's back to collecting just PoAU sets there is hardly any of the good cards on Ebay so cases/boxes are a great way to go. But also for me wouldnt mind anything I pulled, its different.

If all these new sets weren't coming out soon, and I found a cheap box of PoAU, I would probably buy it, even though there is a huge chance I would end up with a dup.

Im always up for a cheap box of POAu-the last one i picked up for $25 had five inserts in it...definately made up for the lack-lustre inserts i got when the set first came out.

Dave, too funny! Love the new motto!  ROFL!  If I continue the luck I've been having with POAU, I may be adopting that motto.

I have been trying to pick up a few cards on  Ebay!, but I haven't been able to pick any off at all.   Tongue

Think maybe I'll ONLY pick one up IF it's really cheap from a reliable seller on  Ebay!

I have such a wish list: Wanted Poster, Daily Prophet, Fat Lady (Dawn French) Auto, Harry, Ron, Hermione auto or triple, Dual Weasley, etc.  Ugh, the temptations!  Wink

I still need a Wanted Poster and Fizzing Wizzbees, but need to stop spending and save for all the new ones now.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the fizzing wizzbees! Need that one too!   Tongue

I'm struggling with trying (notice I said trying) to save up for the new cards/sets and really wanting to go after some of my "dream cards.

And here I had just about decided NOT to buy any more POAU sets (unless a really great deal, of course) until you mentioned the Fizzing Wizzbees! Grin

Ah well, must find that one!

When GOFU is released in 10 days or so and the inserts are listed on eBay, you might find more POAU cards, too.

Definitely the print run!!  Roll Eyes Slap me silly but I actually like to pull more than one insert per box!!  Roll Eyes Hopping Mad And to have that one be a cardigan, sleeping bag or jacket?  Hopping Mad Hopping Mad Hopping Mad And then to keep pulling those over and over?  Hopping Mad
As for the cards themselves? Totally cool!! And we all know my favorite was the dual Weasley!!  Kiss

Glad to hear someone else has gotten boxes with only one insert.  Hopping Mad  I've had quite a number of POAU boxes turn out with only one insert.   Tongue  I was beginning to get a little miffed.  Is it really that common for POAU to have only one insert?

Trust me Bitsy you were doing well with one insert.  An obscene number of boxes have nothing at all  Hopping Mad

Are you kidding!  There are boxes that have nothing?!   Huh That's ridiculous.  Tongue  Maybe I'm luckier than I thought, then.  Roll Eyes I can only imagine how I'd be if I got a complete dud.  Hopping Mad
