Here are the top 4 (other than the Galadriel in the last case I opened last night). Well at least the most interesting I think. At first I thought oh not a Matt Busch (nothing against him personally, but I have more than enough of his SW heritage sketches as I think he did literally thousands) then I checked the LOTR sketch site and his are very limited in this set and the Frodo is nice. Those are some really nive cards.. I have never seen that one form Tom ..Man he really put some nice cards out there. I got to watch him make some of them(we share some studio space)but once i really dug into mine we really didn't see much of each other for a few weeks. i am finding more and more that i never saw. I am really enjoying them.

Way to go Dave!! Congrats on your nice pulls. Welcome to the club Jackie!! Can't wait to see what you get as well! Good luck! I have really been enjoying reading and talking with you all about the Evolutions set and have had a great time looking at all the great and not so great sketch cards that are out on ebay, shown by you all here, and on the sketch card web site. I think this is the most enjoyable time I have had of any of the Topps LOTR's sets notwithstanding my bad luck with my boxes.

Yes Peter Frampton I believe I think Topps did a great job of (for the most part) spreading the sketch load around so artists weren't having to pump out 3,000 sketches (that is what Randy Martinenz said he did for SW Heritage according to his website if I recall) which sacrificed quality for sure. Of course it is hard to argue with the law of averages in this product if you get close to 2 per box you should find a couple you will really like in a case. The Frodo will need to go to a new shire, maybe in England for a spot of tea Jules.

I really need help finding out what artists did what...some of their signatures are definetly not possible to read. Oh yeah, lol, so what does everyone think the odds are on pulling 4 Dalla Veccha sketches and of the 4, 3 of them are Gimli? The T 05 is Tom Hodges Apparently I can't read when I'm sleep deprived... it's not a T 05, it's an F 05 which is Otis Frampton... Sorry!

Fine Jackie here are four more, my CC and Cat sketches and the Mary Mitchell Gandalf (which is light but an exact likeness of Sir Ian and a Ray Dillion Gollum - happy for a Dillion but I am not a gollum fan. Cat you do have to confirm with me who your sketch is of.

I kind of like that it doesnt have the background, and you can still tell the exact moment in the film that its from. the eye is cool too, but I still want a leggy.

Sounds good to me Dave - you know where I am (figuratively speaking)!!! I think you have to approach this set with an open mind because of the diversity of styles of the sketches done for it. I've ended up with sketches by artists I hadn't really 'looked' at in the listings, though I knew them from previous cards sets (Star Wars Heritage) and had some idea on what to expect. If you try and keep your mind open then hopefully you won't be too disappointed with what you get, and I have to agree with Dave on this one - but the sketches DO look HEAPS better in hand than ever they do in the scans. Some of these sketches really are works of art in miniature and are selling accordingly and I do think it's a bit of a pity that the artists responsible haven't received some of the fantastic sums of money these cards have sold/are selling for. Kate - that Gandalf is wonderful ... it captures the film moment exactly! The Mary Mitchell Gandalf looks beautiful too .. so-o-o-o-o-o-o many cards and not enough £/$ to go round them all! I really hope everyone else is blessed with some lovely sketches and I think I'll stick to if I feel the urge for more sketch cards rather than risk buying any more boxes. I've been very lucky with the two boxes I got and I don't want to stretch that luck any further thanks!

After seeing sketches here and on eBay, I have a good idea of what is available and what I want. It doesn't make sense for me to buy boxes hoping to pull a particular character's sketch. Having said that, it's back to eBay I go!

Cat's sketch looks like Wormtounge to me. It does to me too - Brad Dourif Cat has all her sketches posted on her site - you might want to look there to see what poses she did for Wormtongue....
