I'm keeping my fingers crossed this gets sorted out in your favour VERY quickly Chris - it's a complete shambles and like Sharon, I often wonder what do we get for the extra we pay for with the international insured service?

So, that's Bidpay AND Fast Pay gone .... which means any international transactions we make that don't allow the use of Paypal for payments we won't be able to complete them - you're right ... Paypal has the one-to-one payments market in a stranglehold!

my postman is great he looks after me he even tries to deliver the parcels twice in a day

my parcelforce deliverer brings my parcels to my work as he knows i have things delivered to both places

I think the only way to safeguard yourself is to not allow paypal from international bidders, I know that sounds harsh, but that is just the breaks.  I haven't had a bad experience yet, but the first time it happens and I get screwed on a paypal claim I will stop accepting paypal and consider only selling to US buyers.  I know that is a hard decision to make as you narrow your potential bidders down, but is 350 pounds chargeback worth the extra couple bucks here an there you can get from the international bidders. 

It really is tough, but you might have to consider it as it is a considerable amount of money to lose out on and they get the cards too.

Well maybe pick the countries like the US that seem to be less problematic.  I have thought about limited my ebay selling to UK, US, Oz and Canada.  I always am a little more worried when a pricey card goes to Japan or Hong Kong.  Just seem like more possible problems happen outside of those countries.

Yep, we're finding that out from the mess Chris is trying to resolve at the moment!

I made the decision early on about where I was prepared to post to with the auctions I've got running and I hope to stick to UK, Northern USA, (not South America) Canada, Europe and Oz/NZ .... I don't really want the potential hassle of shipping anywhere in the Far East (China/Japan/Taiwan) or the Indian sub-continent if I can avoid it.
I've also been extremely wary of who I buy from in SE Asia too and I'm VERY choosy who I deal with.
The exceptions would be people who I know from the Forum and I'd be sympathetic if other ebay members contacted me prior to bidding to see if I'd ship to their location and I'd have chance to double-check their feedback. Unfortunately you don't have the time to do all that with the number of auctions you have running at any one time Chris and I bet you'll think twice when it comes to sending expensive cards abroad in the future won't you?
I think it's a sad fact that you have to make these judgments when most of the people you deal with are honest - guess it's the minority spoiling it for everyone else isn't it?

I'm SO sorry you've got such a mess to sort out with this transaction Chris and I hope Paypal/Post Office come through with the goods/money ASAP.

Sorry to hear about your problems and hope you resolve them satisfactorily.

I have dealt with this buyer twice.

Once as netramble and then as 1234shuz his new identity. He has now closed this account with only 3 feedback. All the items he bought of me were auto cards. The second transaction was over £80 for three cards. I sent him an invoice suggesting he took insurance. He replied in a very blunt manner. He stated he didn't want insurance as he didn't want to pay import duties and as such I shouldn't put more than $50 on the customs form. (Asking me to break the law). Also that I shouldn't include any form of paperwork in with the cards for instance ebay packing slip. I guess so that if customs opened there would be no way of discerning the value. I just sent the cards as I usually do and made sure I got a certificate of postage. It sounds like I may have had a lucky escape.

Looking at his feedabck he's had 19 negs in one year. 4 or 5 for Darren at the Collectorzone.

Just found the message from him on my Paypal account:

Hello, This is Shuji. I do not want to pay IMPORT TAX !!! Please check below ====NOTICE==== #1 Do NOT send receipt, invoice, sales slip of credit card or other documents ( ex, copy of ebay auction page, copy of our mail, etc) with our item!! #2 Do NOT send items with your price tags!! #3 PLEASE DECLARE AS $50.00 GOOD(S), IF YOU HAVE TO DECLARE FOR INT'L SHIPPING. #4 Please care this items, Protect from DAMAGE !! Thanks for your cooperation.

Anyway his business is Movie Master Japan if he crops up again on ebay.

Thanks for the info on his ebay ID's and his Japanese business - I think blocking this guy from bidding on ANY of our auctions would be a sensible thing if we can do it don't you?

Ok how about this I woke up this morning to find £349.99 in my account with no explanation Paypal has now refunded the amount less their fees you never know the fees might even be refunded later it does sometimes happen.

I would have thought an explanation would have been something not even an email

Looking back at the history of my claim it a says that the claim was denied on 2nd Feb but only today funds were released what is up with that. I was never told it was denied by email.

Yeah this is fab news Chris - but Lurtz raised an interesting point before - that over £150 Paypal asks you to get a signature for receipt. Now, the 'best' (or in other words most expensive) system of posting outside the UK doesn't get a signature (airsure) - do we all shun that and go for International Signed for like Chris did and then go through this purgatory if anything goes wrong??

It's not an easy one to call.
