Interesting:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72603/wo/Bh5x423leT9w3r4kF3AAziUVyYW/3.0.0.15.1.0.6.9.1.1.4.1.0.0.0.1.0

They could sell a few million of these for Christmas.

Uh oh!

I had my reply all ready - thinking it would be like the U2 IPOD only more brash I was about to say "Harry Potter has his place... and this isn't one of them... " but then I looked at the link, and I like it - it's subtle and cool!

It's a shame on a couple of fronts... $250  is's a heck of a lot of money for a download, I haven't checked the prices of the audio books lately as I've bought them with each release (Stephen Fry versions) so far and so I haven't thought to tot up my total - although at least I have nice CDs in a presentation boxes to show for it - but also that it's the cheapest rubbishy ipod that they sell - it comes with the least accessories (they don't advertise it but the 60g ipod Photo does come with some accessories... the 20 Gig doesn't) - we only found this out when Mark upgraded from his 20 gig 2nd generation... why not have it in the 20, 40 and 60 gig iterations... what a shame Sad

Ooh - Mike you are right...and guess what? I love it

Definitely a nice successor to the mini, with the colour screen and tinyness and the way it's really a small ipod (with the silver backed white/black fronted design), although it's a shame that it only goes up to 4 gig when the ipod mini was available in 6 gig, but who's guessing with me that a 6 gig version is only a handful of weeks away?

My sister just got one, very cool, but I'm not paying 600 for the Harry Potter one when I can just put a Hogwarts crest sticker on the back of the regular 200 dollars ones Wink

$600, Mike? What, you usually buy in pairs? Wink

I would get it if I did not already have one... and also the fact that I don't have and never will have 5000 songs Tongue

But it doesn't come in PINK!!! Shocked

Looks cool though... although I prefer the minis as far as looks go. I wonder what is next - iPods with mini frosted designs? They are really milking the cash cow!

It's $548 for the HP package because I don't think you can buy it without the audio books Jo.. Sad

Really? I didn't read it properly. That's a bit of a rip, especially if you already have the audio books Tongue

Exactly - I was a bit sneaky - added the ipod to my cart and then took away the audio books, it automatically deletes both itemsĀ  so we are out of luck on that one, especially lovers of Stephen Fry over Jim Dale (although the apple itunes shop does have Fry maybe there's a UK equivalent)

Surely even if they stuck $50 on the HP exclusive iPod price alone, that might be a better option? I mean, why would people want to spend that much on audio books if they can borrow them from their library for free?
