Anybody have any suggestions?  Sensible or wishful thinking?

Scrimgeour?

Slughorn?

I know it's the wrong film but I think Prunella Scales would be PERFECT for Umbridge in OOTP

Oh deary me. I don't know I can't even say Scrimgeour Roll Eyes

Oh yes that would be good. I'm looking forward to Minandra Richardson as Rita Skeeter, she's going to be great I'm sure. Do I have enough time to become a famous actress before OoTP, if I could have a wish it would be to play Tonks. *Oh look them there flying pigs*

A two for one offer like Dawn French and Lenny Henry. Although I thought they were taking it in turns to look after the kid.

I would think they'd bring the nipper with them - so it would be three-for-the-price-of-one! Tongue

Dawn French is already the Fat Lady  Wink

How about Sue Pollard (of Hi De Hi fame) - she's suitably dotty for a role in HP.

Zzzzzzz... wha?  Oh sorry  Wink

Sue Pollard would have made a good Trelawney though.  I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan or Christopher Lee at some point.  Sean Connery wouldn't be a bad idea either but I guess Harry Potter wouldn't be his cup of tea.  I always thought Connery would have been great in Star Trek or Star Wars

I'm going to say something that I am sure you will all disagree with. But I think Christopher Lee would have made a good Dumbledore. He's dying to play less evil parts (actually he wanted to play Gandalf in LOTR), and Dumbledore (to be that incredibly powerful wizard) has to have an "edge" to him like Lee does. I think he has also got an on screen presence which Dumbledore needs and which neither Richard Harris nor Michael Gambon have so far brought to the part - don't get me wrong, I love Gambon, but not necessarily as Dumbledore.

I don't disagree at all - I think you've made a great point.  Christopher Lee would have been ideal for the part.  As for Harris & Gambon, I like Gambon better, he brings a bit more personality and a bit more mischief to the character.  Dumbledore is really a big kid underneath it all and Gambon nailed that aspect quite nicely.

Connery would be a great Prime Minister of England lmao

 ROFL!

Very funny.  He loves his homeland so much he doesn't even LIVE there...

On the subject of Little Britain, how about Matt Lucas for Slughorn?

I am afraid I am going to need a time turner for the actor I wanted to play Slughorn.  It is Nigel Bruce who was the original Dr Watson opposite Basil Rathbones Sherlock Holmes.  And just to clarify things, no I am not old enough to remember this first time round  Shocked

I like the idea of Tony Head as PM  Grin

How about Clive Swift for Slughorn?  He was Hyacinth Buckets long suffering husband in Keeping Up Appearances.  Ooh, what about Geoffrey Yates who played Hyacinth's brother Onslow?

Someone has a newly developed Keeping up appearances obsession Wink no actually they are both good ideas - I'd love to see Clive Swift take on such a part. Apparently Yates is a really nice guy who enjoys gardening - not at all like Onslow Wink
