I got this card as a gift,  while I am a huge LOTRs fan and have been since I was a kid,  I have never been a collector.  I am worried that there will not be a long term market for this type of thing and was wondering if any one here would be willing to give some advice. 

1.  Do I sell it?
2.  Where do I sell it?
3.  how much could it go for if I sold it?

I ask lots of questions I know but I would like some advice from people who know more about this sort of thing than I do.

1. It all depends if you have become attached to it

2. Ebay is probably the best open market place where you would get the most fair price

3. I would be surprised if it went for less than $400, it's pretty rare!

Just so we are all clear are you saying that you have a Topps Return of the King Autographed Card that you are thinking of selling?

@savage727 yes I have a Topps Return of the King Peter Jackson Autographed Card that I am thinking of selling. 

If it was anything other than a trading card I do not think I would even consider selling it.  I mean I grew up with LOTRs and such.  I have several Tolkien books that are collectors that I will never part with and still hold the dream of someday owning a autographed copy of the hobbit.  Yea I know dream on . 

I am just not sure that in 10 years there will be a market for movie trading cards, even LOTRs. That is why I come to you all becasue I am not a collector and do not know what to do

That's a good point you make, though those of us who own the auto cards wouldn't like to think the market for them might not be there in the future!
We've all noticed the price of them has dropped since the LOTR franchise has finished, but I think it's fair to say that there will always be collectors of these cards and that the interest and value will go through cycles where it peaks and troughs.
Peter Jackson didn't sign many cards for this set either which makes them highly desirable, added to the fact that he's the director ... all-in-all you own an excellent card and how wonderful to have it given to you as a gift!
If you do decide to keep it and need advice on how best to store it safely, then please let us know and I'm sure we'll be able to point you in the right direction.
The same goes if you decide to sell it.
