Hey,

well not always but the rittenhouse ones mainly are. i mean look at the QTNG multi case card picard/data dual auto. stargate multi case card thor auto and now the enterpeise auto costume cards from t'pol and  Hoshi  are both multi case insentive cards.
                         Now i think rittenhouse are the best card company out there at the moment they put two autos in a box or an auto and a costume card and are really helpful and i know they are helping dealers which is a good thing but what about the collector who isn't one.i can't afford to shell out GBP 375.00 for a thor card and there is no way in hell i would be able to afford a T'pol auto-costume card(but thanks to Roz i may even have my own version  Grin ). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=60229&item=6172716494&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW .
                        Now i know that even if they were i probably wouldn't have been able to afford one but its still nice to think when i get a box that i might get one.

what do other people think?,

I do agree with you because I am not a dealer.  If I were I would probably be happy with the way things are Cheesy

I know the companies have to encourage dealers to stock their products but at the end of the day if we, the general public, don't buy then no ones makes a profit.

I think one of the dealer arguments will be that this is a way of boosting their profits and ensuring they don't make a loss.  In which case shouldn't the card manufactures be looking at the prices and profit margins of the basic boxes rather than issuing special cards?

I have some case cards and I love them but others I simply can't afford.  And as you say these are the really nice cards.

I think I prefer the different coloured promos in the Harry sets.  At least I have the bog standard ones and the dealers have the limited ones to sell  Smiley

But as I said if I were a dealer that could be given a card that could sell for thousands (Pear Tree Leaf) just for buying and selling goods I would be quite happy to leave things be. Grin

I agree with you saruman.  I understand why the card companies offer these incentives to dealers, for more sales obviously, but do they have to be dealer exclusives.  It would be nice if they could randomly insert say 5 of them in their total box run.  It would give collectors an opportunity to be able to pull one.  Granted the odds would be extremely rare of pulling one, but it's always nice to know when you purchase a box, that you might just be one of the lucky few to get one. ya i like that idea actuall Anna at least then there is some chance i mean isn't the whole card thing for the collector not to give the dealers omeny although i realise they need to makle a profit but then like Sharon said shouldn't the companies lower the prices of the boxes not give out cards most people who actually collect because they really like the series/film won't be able to get.maybe have a more common version of the card put into the box

That I would be happy with.  Have the card in the boxes but then change it ever so slightly for the dealer - gold foil instead of silver say.  The serious collect will pay big bucks for the extra rare card but the others can still own the more common one.

Even better I like Annas idea of putting just a few in the packs.  This would not lower the overall price but give everyone a fighting chance, no matter how steep the odds.

Only problem might be the Harry cards.  There is no way you could randomly insert a monster book of monsters.  That is one thick card  Grin

They could put redemptions in like saruman says (please not that Roll Eyes ), but they should just make the dealer exclusive card a card that has the same thickness as a regular prop or costume card.  I don't care for the really thick cards anyways because they don't make a screw-down cases thick enough to hold them. The point is that these guys are being encouraged (in Rittenhouse's 6 case  incentive's case) to part with about £2,500 of product before they get the incentive card.

When the dealer is unsure how a product will sell a rare card will certainly help them sleep easier at night.

I know that it's a pain when a set has incentive cards that are impossible to get hold of - but it could be worse, think of Artbox's whomping willow - you had to spend over £10,000 (in the UK) on product and it's only worth £100. So sometimes the collectors get it easy Wink

I do agree with what you are saying Roz but surely the Whomping Willow is a good reason to change the incentive cards.

The dealers were unhappy that it was not worth more (for £10,000 outlay I would be miffed) but £100 is still a lot of money for an individual card.

The other thing to remember is some cards sell themselves.  Many dealers only order what they have pre orders for.  I think the  number of case cards is getting silly.  I don't remember this many being around years ago (1 for 10 cases, another for 25 etc).

I know a lot of people on here got stung with the Harry update and I don't think we were saying scrap the cards, just give non dealers a chance  Grin

Shhhh!!!

Saruman - While I thank you linking to my auction - it'd be nice if you could say what a FANTASTIC bargin it is!!

If you could please replace your post from;

"i can't afford to shell out GBP 375.00 for a thor card"

to;

"I'd pay hundreds more for that card, that seller is giving us a great deal!!!"

I'd really appreciate it.  Wink

If I had the money I would buy your Thor card, but sadly I don't  :'(

I just wish that their case incentives were easier for people like me who don't have a lot of money to get, but I guess that's why they call them incentive cards because they are hard to get  unless your willing to spend a lot of money Wink

I am a dealer who says (and said) "Put the best card back into the packs". I was concerned by the move. Sure, on some level it was good for me as I had master sets to take care of and my luch with pulls isn't the best. It guaranteed me at least one card I didn't ahve to chase Wink But, I, for example, bought 22 cases of TNGQ. 50% went back out the door to clients. Some, as case orders, the majority as box/bidner orders..a few boxes and a binder. The vast majority of my clients can't afford a case incentive and I tend to feel partial to them and want them to *have a shot*.  This removes that shot and for their sakes, I wish it were otherwise. Regardless, admit it, most collectors want *it all* and whatever card isn't inserted into packs will end up being coveted purely by it's hard to get nature. And as much as we love our cards and view them a hobby, it's a business and if a slant is given to some degree to what makes the companies sell out and the dealers buy, we can't befrudge them TOO much Smiley
