Because anyone lying about dud boxes would have to put up with this little fella being posted to you! I don't think Rittenhouse just stick low end cards in an envelope, I had the impression it was randomly done rather like it would be with a box!

There's no way to tell if people are lying about not receiving an insert. When I had problems with Cat in the Hat boxes, Comic Images asked me to send them the UPC codes from the bottom of the box, to prove I bought the boxes. Other companies might require the box number. I think they also accept that a certain number of people will make false requests, and the cost of the cards is built into the box price.
My guess is that the companies keep track of who makes these requests, and if someone is repeatedly claiming they didn't get inserts, the company would eventually put its foot down.

well, I didn't know that, how do they avoid people just lying and saying they didn't get an insert?
As kbmum stated, I had to provide the UPC code, box number, plus the name and address of the seller to Inkworks. I also agree with kbmum that they probably keep a list of people claiming to have been missing inserts. If the same name keeps submitting claims a red flag would surely be raised.

Back to the devil's Snare being loose in the box, isn't anyone else worried that this may cause damage to the card during shipping?

Not really. The boxes are pretty tightly packed and the plastic around the outside should stop it coming loose. It will be completely flat and the card board of the box will protect it a bit. I think I would be more worried about the damage to me when they pick me up off the floor if I find a Devils Snare card

It probably won't be loose like that. It'll either be in a top loader or a little envelope (like the case cards). I don't think any card manufacturer would send out a rare card unprotected.

Speak for yourself. The day you can wait to open a box of cards has not yet dawned How long did it take you and your mum to open the POA box Perhaps I should be there with smelling salts and a cup of tea? Oooooo cupa tea - that's a good idea

Oooooo cupa tea - that's a good idea Tea is ALWAYS a good idea - hmmmmmmmm I think I'll make one! Ooh still on a high about Devil's snare being limited to 100... I wonder what the Sorcerers Stone is numbered to? Now all I need to do is rattle every case that comes into the UK prior to them being sent out... where's my portable X-ray machine?? Then I'll be off to get a job at Customs

Then I'll be off to get a job at Customs Now that could come in dead handy, someone on the inside, 'loosing' all the excess duty forms Now all I need to do is rattle every case that comes into the UK prior to them being sent out Hooray another shaker Kbmum is good and waits to be surprised. Must be a UK thing, the peaking and the shaking We really will have to see if shaking boxes works

My brother-in-law is an FBI cutoms agent (for immagrations), but he is currently working as an Air Marshall, so I doubt he will even see these boxes.
My husband also brought up a good point. The boxes with the Devil's Snare, will they weigh more? Will people start weighing their boxes?
Also, will the boxes that have these cards only have 23 packs in it? Will you still hope to find another insert in that box?
Also, I am getting mine from Potomac, so at least I feel like I have a chance to get this card.

I doubt there'd be any significant difference in weight. If it's the only insert in the box, it would probably weigh the same as any other box with an insert or two.
