This seller has another auction that, unless I'm reading it wrong, is for one pack of eight cards currently going for $25.50.  Makes my purchase of 9 hobby packs yesterday for $3.00 per pack seem like a steal.

I do have a question about his auction with the $200 reserve.  I've been buying through eBay for seven years, and have seen many reserve auctions.  I know that this type of auction sets a minimum price at which the seller is willing to part with the item.  But what is the advantage of that over making the opening bid the minimum selling price?  As a buyer, I find it extremely aggravating to bid on an item and then not get it because I didn't meet the reserve.  I usually avoid reserve price auctions for that reason.

I sent an email to the seller, and indeed, the auction was for one pack.  The final price was $31.05.  This can't be typical, because if you do the math, it would work out to $745.20 for a box.  Plus, the seller so far hasn't generated much interest in his $200 for 10 packs auction.

Seriously, if you guys pull a chocolate frog/Hermione.Sirius auto from those, alot of people on this board will be very very annoyed. And if oyu do mcgonagall, I may have to pop around and 'borrow' it for a while! Wink

It's difficult when you come to something like this a bit late.  I'm kicking myself for ignoring several emails from the HP Wizard Shop, which was preselling boxes for around $60 each.  At the time, I thought it was crazy to pay that much for a bunch of trading cards.  If only I'd known...So, I've been able to buy a total of only 26 packs from three different sources (one on eBay and two that were online comic book/collectibles stores).

A few weeks ago, I bought 12 packs for $1.99 each from a comic book store in Nebraska, and yes, I pulled a Sirius auto.  Absolute shock gave way to the Dance of Joy around my kitchen.  Smiley

For me, it's been more economical to buy individual cards, rather than take a chance on a $200+ box.  But when the opportunity to buy the nine packs presented itself, I thought it would be foolish to pass it up.  We'll see what I get, if anything, when the packs arrive today or tomorrow.

If I am honest with you I think this is a bit of a cheek!

When I opened my "tepid box" (not quite hot but a very nice box indeed) which had a Sirius auto, a George costume and a Dervish and Banges card in it I had 3 items before I had opened HALF of the packs in the box.

Now I don't know about the rest of you but I have never heard of anyone getting more than 3 rare items in one box... have you?

So had I stopped there I could have put the packs on ebay -it's unfair and it's misleading but I believe that is what this guy has done with the 10 packs on auction here!

Just thought you might feel better knowing HP wizard shop listed those products incorrectly.  He never got ANY hobby boxes.  Those were all retail. I talked to him myself!!  He didn't  get any from Artbox.  I ordered 2 cases and was disappointed to find out they were retail though he discribed the Hobby Boxes exactly.  So don't feel so bad!
