After tonights performance you can count me out from cheering them on again Some of may not follow football, i don't much apart from England. First Hesky's performance was poor, he tried to be the hero, he's a striker yet he feels the need to drop back and give sloppy freekicks, one being 6 yards outside the penalty area ont he 91st min stoppage time and what do you know...the worlds best player zidane belts one in..
GOOOOOAAAAAAAAL! #1
1 minute later, 92nd minute another hero Gerard plays it back to James without even looking, a whole army of frenchies could be behind him but he still takes a sloppy risk and that gamble didnt pay off... never give the ball to Henry with only the keeper to beat. James in goal what more can you expect but a tacky not thought for a split second about challenge, gives away a penalty and look who steps up again....ZIDANE!
GOOOOOAAAAAAAAL! # 2
Call it a night lads i see no hopes for us, 90 mins of hard work and luck and sloppyness and we lose it in 2 minutes ..the very last 2 minutes of the game.
End score England 1 France 2
I am not to bothered about losing i am more worried about how we lost it in 2 minutes, what can we expect with the next game and the game after that!

Ben - we are rubbish at football. We content ourselves with thinking we have some of the best footballers in the world here - but in all these years of me watching the world cups and the euro cups we never win nothing... so David Beckham is a big ponse... there's not doubt about it - he's no Ryan Giggs

And every year we get the same old 3 Lions song to try and gear us up into thinking that Englad will actually stand a chance, but let's face it, it's never going to happen! I don't really care anyway - football isn't my thing.

No, but when we left the sunny New Forest we were 1.0 up to the French... I left you watching it Ben and your psychic vibes that you put from your brain into the players via the TV set were not strong enough to keep them winning I always find if I am NOT watching Tim Henman play tennis he does a lot better than when I am

Gee Roz: The person who did that to my flag certainly has too much time on their hands and I would be more than happy to demonstrate on their body how us Veterans feel about such crap.

Strangely enough - t'was done by an American... I did realise you wouldn't like it tho - but thought you would let me off just this once. Since I am in the mood for dobbing people in - Mark once had a pair of swimming shorts with the US flag on ...

Now it is one thing to have the image of your flag on clothing or even a pencil but to alter it to make fun of or to put a political slant on it is just plain juvenile.
There are certain things that push me over the edge and the flag is one of them as I have seen too many friends and men under my command die to uphold it. I am sorry but it is not a laughing matter with me.
Roz I know you had no disrespect intended here.

Hmm - Ed I think you are a great person - and since it upsets you it has gone. It's just we here in the UK don't hold so much with the flag itself, to us it's just a piece of material to place somewhere proudly showing who we are. Not something we die for, the guys in WW2 here died not to uphold our flag but for the people back home, to defend their freedom and the freedom of other Western European Countries, rather than to place our flag somewhere - it sounds rather like the differences between protestants and catholics doesn't it - we Anglicans believe that the bread and the wine is a loose symbol for Jesus' shed blood, whereas Catholics believe in some way through transubstantiation that it BECOMES the body and blood - to you guys the flag is body and blood - to us it just represents us. I had heard it was illegal in America to have shorts like Mark's but I had not fully understood what the flag means to you guys - so it's gone

Roz:
It was not my intent to have you remove the image of our altered flag. You see one of the great things about our country is freedom of speech and expression even if it is offensive. Believe it or not that is one of the reasons so many Americans' fight so hard - to uphold the ideals of freedom even though they may be used in the fashion represented by the altered flag. In that light of discussion I put my views forth but in no way condon censorship.
I would also have to beg to differ with you about the way your countrymen and women view your flag as I have served with British Pilots here in the States and in combat in Desert Storm and they expressed the same love of country and patriotism I and my fellow Marines' did.

Gracious we do love our country, and usually think fondly back through our history (unless we are talking about the times Blair's in charge) - and (perhaps I shouldn't give away our secrets) but use our flags for signals such as SOS if you fly it in a certain way. In fact - we currently have a St George flag shortage !!! We fly it proudly - but would giggle when it's altered - and I say altered rather than defaced

Rule Britannia - gee I hope I spelled it right!! Roz you have to get Mark to add a Spell Check feature when you post messages!! It gets embarassing when you cannot spell anymore!! How long have you had a flag shortage?

It's not often I feel moved to edit messages but I felt it necessary! And I had best get on to ensure that Britannia still rules the waves (and if we get rid of Tony Blair or B.Liar as he's known here) we shall never be slaves either - except to Card Companies who want our money!

Why is Tony Blair unpopular? I thought he was well liked within your country.
