I personally can't see Ron and Hermione getting together, and yes I read the books over and over again  

I think that Harry and Hermioni make much more sense to me. I hope that is the way it goes instead of the old cliche that oppesites attract so therefore Ron and Hermione should be together

See, when I first starting reading the books, I always thought it would be harry and Hermione, but as I read them, the more I wanted her to be with Ron.

JKR has hinted at it several times that all the clues to this love triangle are in place.  As much as I think we all really want Harry and Hermione, I think everything is pointing towards Ron and Hermione.  The books are all about growing up and maturing adolescents, and I think this is one of JKR's best subtle theme.  I think she is developing both Ron and Hermione towards falling for each other.  They spend so much time yelling and critisizing each other in the past 3 books, that I think they do have feelings for each other...but don't know how to express it (or perhaps are trying to reject the feelings).  Either way, I agree....I have been through all the books and there seems to be very little favoring a relationship between Harry and Hermione

Ok I was having a bit of fun, Lockhart only has eyes for himself.

I think Ron and Hermione will get together. There is something interesting new on her site, shes teasing again.

Well, I've posted previously about this with some of the evidence that I've gathered and other thoughts that I had. If you didn't read it, refer to this thread:

Anyways, going along with what you guys were saying about Ron and Hermione ... they spent three books fighting and yelling and what not at each other. For that to develop into serious emotions is, for lack of better words, unrealistic. I don't think their fights were based on lack of being able to express love. Recall, these fights started as early as the Philosopher's Stone when Ron labeled Hermione a know-it-all or something like that (I can't remember the exact words). As each book progressed, we saw them fighting more and more. It wasn't until Goblet of Fire that Ron actually began to feel something for her ... the problem with articles that I've read online is that they only refer to Ron's feelings toward Hermione's (not vice-versa).  Hermione's feelings are still a bit ambigious, to me, with JKR and her misdirection.

You guys make great points and please continue to make them because I love chatting about this subject (I rarely get to do it besides talking to my sisters, who agree with me), and in the end, it probably will be Ron and Hermione because that is the obvious choice ... but when has JKR ever been obvious in her writing ... again, to me, never.

I just read all her updates and just now realized that this one was new ... I must be really stupid. Anyways, she is teasing us just as you say ... A bigger tease than I would have thought imaginable. The one thing typing and instant messaging and all that is missing is the gestures and facial expressions that human interaction provides. Therefore, that chuckle may be taken as ...

1. the humerous prospects of Ron and Hermione getting together
2. the cute kind of chuckle that hints upon the relationship that is blossoming

Either path she takes, she'll be disappointing shippers. Furthermore, I think that a relationship may happen as soon as the next book, if this wasn't already obvious. Here's what she had to say regarding that:

In OOTP, she makes a point of saying (through Sirius and Remus) that James and Lily started dating during seventh year.  I think that's a hint that Hermione and Ron are taking their time getting there, but will be dating by the end of the last book.

First, I don't think Hermione and Ron should be compared to Lily and James. I fail to see the direct connection that Lily and James had. Here's some reasons from the book: During his years at Hogwarts, James had a crush on Lily and everyone knew this. Further, Lily thought Sirius and James were just bullies. This was from OOTP, but remember that it was seen through Snapes Penseive so I'm not sure if that has any of his biases within the story telling.

Looking closely at the Ron and Hermione relationship, Ron has just treated Hermione with nothing but contempt for the most part. Hermione, on the hand, has never shown direct feelings towards Ron or Harry (maybe Victor Krum  ). She seems to care about them both equally.

It pretty much comes down to the the fact that I'm tired of "old" cliches being repeated over and over again. The writer feels that two people who are complete opposites should, against all odds, fall in love and live happily ever after especially when their is somebody that is another charatcer already their that's perfect for them.

Although they do not have the fights as much as Ron and Hermione, I can't help but thinking about "Little Woman", and the relationship between Joe, Laurie, and Professor Bair.

To some degree, I think what you are saying can be furthered by the studies that I have been doing in my film theory class. While discussing ideologies in film, we watched Clarence Badger's It. In the film, the female character is a shop girl, and she falls in love with the owner/manager of the store, in which she works. In the end, they fall in love despite their difference in social class. Under normal circumstances, this would be highly impossible. Love simply does not transcend social class. Some would argue that film and literature potrays such an ideology because it is something society fantasizes about but have trouble achieving. There is, in fact, numerous examples of this same theme. Every "Cinderella" story (including the modern remakes) can account for a vast majority of them.

With the evidence or clues that JKR presented to us, I believe this love triangle could go in any direction ... that the clues are not as clear and concrete as she claims them to be. Personally, I hope that JKR has noticed this trend in film and literature and can go against the grain and reflect on reality.
