Looks cool - hope you have your tickets booked Cheesy

Now the next con OzCardsInc will be attending as a dealer is the following Lord Of The Rings Convention in Melbourne, we will have some great goodies including United Cutlery Swords, Plates, Trading Cards and Figures. Here are the details

Lord of the Rings Convention
18-20 March 2005
Latrobe University, Bundoora, Melbourne

This convention is all about the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the whole trilogy, not just the actors. Their guests include Cameron Smith from WETA Digital who worked on Gollum, Luke Hawker and Frances Richardson, senior technicians of the makeup and prosthetics departments, (the creators of the humanoid monsters) and
a representative from the armoury and weaponry department.

For fans of the actors there is Thomas Robins (Deagol), Sarah McLeod (Rosie), Mark Ferguson (Gil-Galad and ringwraith) and Paul Norell (King of the Dead) who can tell the real story of what it was like acting in these films away from the onsite air-conditioned vans and personal gofers.

And if that wasn't enough to fill your days how about listening to
Melbourne's leading arcapella group performing Tolkien's poems or try your hand at weapon training or some introductory roleplay or collectable card games.

If you find yourself bored at this convention, get out of the bathroom and join in the fun.

Booking forms are available via their website: www.scinut.com or ring Onelia on (03) 9848 1068 or 0401 062 296.  Grin

Its a bit odd also that we are having a second convention just 6 months after the first one  Roll Eyes

its a pity they never get the bigger (main) stars for the Aussie conventions.  We are just as big fans as those in the US and UK, plus there are quite a few Aussies in the film; youd think they would make an effort  Undecided

Im not sure if I will go......hmmm there are not really any big stars there but it would be good to hear stories from the set and what it was like.

I might go if I can find someone to go with me, I dont want to go on my lonesome  Sad

Oooh - you two look like you will be taking some time off your collections then! I know how you feel - when I bought my laptop, there were some lean times ahead for me too Cheesy

It is pretty sad that we almost never have any of these... and when we do, they are few and far between without any of the big stars Tongue

Plus I get a scholarship with the phd,

Erm... they might not have told you this but you have to pay for accommodation, food and travel home to see your family with that you know. Wink Tongue

And actually one thing about my (evil) PhD is that I've had no rise with inflation so I am still on the same in my 3rd year as I was in my first despite paying £20 (about AU$50) more per week on my accommodation... so don't go too mad - you might need it later Wink
